Kenzie Wheeler kicked off Season 20 of The Voice with a cover of Keith Whitley’s “Don’t Close Your Eyes” on Monday, March 1.

His unique country vocals were put on full display during his audition. His vocals were so impressive that it earned him a four chair turn. Coach Kelly Clarkson turned first, using her block against Blake Shelton, before John Legend, Nick Jonas and Shelton followed suit.

Shelton praised Wheeler’s “triple threat mullet,” labeling it the “rarest of all mullets,” while the other coaches raved over his incredible voice.

“I was blocked by Kelly,” Shelton “This guy has the triple threat mullet, first he has the party in the back, he’s got the shaved side but then the rare widows peak, the rarest of all mullets, this guy is a unicorn.”

“Kenzie, nothing has brought me more pleasure than hearing your voice,” Jonas added.

“I’m going to fight so hard for you,” Clarkson proclaimed.

“Please give me a shot,” Legend said.

Following the four chair turn, Wheeler was forced to pick between all four coaches, which he ended up going with Clarkson.
