Team Blake’s Aaron Konzelman and Connor Christian faced off during Monday’s (March 29) Battle Rounds on NBC’s The Voice.

Prior to their performance, the contestants received feedback and advice from GRAMMY-winning country superstar duo Dan + Shay, who is appearing as the Battle Round Advisors for Team Blake this season.

Konzelman and Christian absolutely crushed their performance of Waylon Jennings’ “Ain’t Livin’ Long Like This,” leaving the coaches were thoroughly impressed.

Nick Jonas declared their performance a “barn burner” as Kelsea Ballerini, who is filling in for Kelly Clarkson, exclaimed, “That was fun!”

“I really just had a fun time listening to the whole thing. Aaron’s voice a little more electric to me and it felt like it was more suited to this particular song. But there’s something cool about your voice, Connor. I was thinking about what it would feel like for you to just sing a stripped-down ballad with just you and a guitar. I’m more intrigued by the possibility of hearing what else you can do. It’s a tough decision.”

I can’t believe I’m gonna say it, but I really think that song was perfect, Blake,” Ballerini complimented.

Shelton acknowledged the tough choice he was about to make.

“Aaron….He’s the jack of all trades, from teaching martial arts to creating essential oils for men’s beards,” the “Minimum Wage” laughed. “I don’t know how you manage to do anything else when you’re so good at that.”

“Connor,” he added, “who works full-time as a tennis coach…By the same token, it’s like how does Connor do anything else other than this?”

It was a close call, but Shelton ultimately decided to send Connor through to the Knockouts.

“I know I’ve got to make a decision here. I’m being honest with myself, it’s a little bit more in Aaron’s wheelhouse, but Connor, I know how much work you’ve put into this. I’ve got to give it up to Connor,” he revealed.

“Your battle was one for the history books, Connor Christian and Aaron Konzelman!” Shelton tweeted after their performance. “Y’all did Team Blake proud!”

Watch it all go down in the clip above.

The Voice airs on Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC.
