Bailey Zimmerman and The Kid LAROI joined forces to deliver the television debut of “Lost” at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
Wearing all matching white, silver and black ensembles, the buzzed-about hitmakers dominated the MTV VMAs Extended Play Stage with a rowdy, high-energy performance. This marks the first year the Extended Play Stage appears on the main show, as it previously took place during the pre-show telecast. The Extended Play Stage, presented by Doritos, is designed to spotlight first-time nominees, with this year’s lineup featuring Zimmerman, Megan Moroney, and Lola Young. The performance marked both Zimmerman’s and The Kid LAROI’s first time performing at the VMAs.
“Where do I go from here?/ ‘Cause, baby, I’m goin’ nowhere fast/ ‘Cause half of me disappeared/ When those taillights didn’t turn back/ Now I’m lost in the memory, lost in the blue/ Lost in the sheets in a bed that was meant for two/ Where do I go from here?/ ‘Cause I never been lost ’til I lost you,” Zimmerman and The Kid LAROI sang on the track’s chorus.
Co-written by Zimmerman and The Kid LAROI alongside Ryan Hurd, Rodney Clawson, Michael Lotten, Billy Walsh and Austin Shawn, “Lost” is a track, produced by Austin Shawn, that appears on Zimmerman’s recently released sophomore album, Different Night Same Rodeo.
Prior to his performance with The Kid LAROI, Zimmerman opened up about what it meant to be invited to perform at the iconic awards show. “When I got the invite to come here… and all the nominations, it was really crazy because I’ve always watched this, and it’s definitely not been a country thing,” Zimmerman said in an EPK. “So I think it’s really cool that they’re welcoming me here and everybody’s been so nice and so pumped to see what we’re going to do. So yeah, it’s really crazy that they’re welcoming us in, and I hope that they continue to do that because everybody just wants awesome songs that sound good. And good music is just good music.”
Of his two nominations, Best Collaboration (“Backup Plan” featuring Luke Combs) and Song of the Summer (“All The Way” with BigXThaPlug), Zimmerman admitted he was “surprised, like, holy crap.”

The star-studded show also featured performances by Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, Alex Warren, Jelly Roll, Sombr, J Balvin, DJ Snake, Post Malone, Doja Cat, Conan Gray, Tate McRae, Megan Moroney, Lola Young and more.
Additionally, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, YUNGBLUD, and Nuno Bettencourt honored the late Ozzy Osbourne with a once-in-a-lifetime tribute performance, which celebrated the legendary “Prince of Darkness” with a medley of his greatest hits.
Ashlee Simpson Ross, Brittany Snow, Ciara, Drew Barrymore, KPOP Demon Hunter’s EJAE, REI AMI + Audrey Nuna (Huntr/x), Ice Spice, Jessica Simpson, Latto, Livvy Dunne, Malin Åkerman, Megan Stalter, Nikki Glaser, Paris Hilton, Alix Earle, Lenny Kravitz, Luke Grimes and ROSÉ appeared to present during the broadcast.
Mariah Carey, the best-selling female artist of all time, was celebrated with the evening’s top honor, the Video Vanguard Award. Global superstar Ricky Martin accepted the Latin Icon Award, while hip-hop pioneer Busta Rhymes received the inaugural MTV VMA Rock The Bells Visionary Award.
Hosted by LL Cool J, the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) aired on Sunday, September 7 via CBS and MTV as well as streaming live on Paramount+ at 8/7c.
