‘American Idol’ Reveals Season 21 Judges, Host & How To Audition For The Show

Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie will be returning to their judges chairs on American Idol!

ABC announced the exciting news of the judges return on Thursday (July 28) as well as sharing the news that Ryan Seacrest will return as the show’s host.

The upcoming season will mark the 21st season overall and the sixth season on the network.

American Idol has yet to announce a premiere date for the upcoming season, however, they did share that it will begin airing in the Spring of 2023.

To celebrate the exciting news of his return to Idol, five-time Entertainer Of The Year Luke Bryan will serve as the guest host on Live With Kelly & Ryan on Monday, August 1.

How To Audition For Season 21 of American Idol?

The popular singing competition show also revealed that season six auditions kick off on Wednesday, August 3, with the return of Idol Across America, the live virtual nationwide search for the next superstar.

Auditions take place across all 50 states plus Washington, D.C, and start with the annual First 500 event, where hopefuls can sign up to grab a VIP spot before anyone else. Idol Across America offers hopefuls the opportunity to showcase their talents face-to-face with an Idol producer, from anywhere in America, across any official audition date for a chance to proceed to the judge audition round of the competition.

The virtual Idol Across America auditions will be held Through Aug. 31.

More details on specific dates, full eligibility requirements, submission forms, terms and conditions are available on the website. Contestants must be at least 15 years old to audition and may do so on any Idol Across America date regardless of your location.

Season 20 concluded on May 23, when Noah Thompson was crowned the winner of American Idol.
