Alex Miller joined Rhonda Vincent & The Rage on stage in Nashville! Opry Member Jeannie Seely also surprised the capacity crowd at The Ryman Auditorium, just days after her birthday.
On Thursday (July 8), the American Idol alum joined Vincent, a bluegrass award-winner, for an encore performance during an evening dubbed Springer Mountain Farms Bluegrass Nights At The Ryman. Miller performed Jimmy Martin’s “Freeborn Man,” a song that he previously performed during Hollywood Week on American Idol, alongside Vincent, while she played the mandolin.
The Kentucky native also performed his debut single, “I’m Over You So Get Over Me,” which the capacity crowd thoroughly enjoyed.
“It was an honor to play with Rhonda, the Queen of bluegrass music!” Miller told Music Mayhem of performing alongside Vincent at The Ryman, before sharing that he will be performing with her again this coming holiday season, “I can’t thank her enough for inviting me and I’m thrilled to get to be part of her Christmas show in Branson this December.”
Miller’s Ryman appearance marked his first-ever performance in Nashville, which he admits felt like a dream come true. “It felt like you dream of something your whole life and it finally comes true,” Miller admitted.
The singer’s first Nashville performance is the first of many as he prepares to take the Grand Ole Opry stage alongside Idol judge and country superstar Luke Bryan in the near future. Those plans have not been finalized yet, but Miller is eager to take the stage and step into the historic circle soon.
“I wish it’d hurry up and get here because I’m having trouble sleeping, thinkin’ about it so much, but it’s so cool. I just try not to think about it,” Miller previously told Music Mayhem.
Following the show, Miller met with fans outside The Ryman, who gushed over his performance with Vincent.
“The Ryman is where it all began. All the history there built the Opry for the next generation of country legends, and I just cannot wait to experience it too. And if the Opry goes as well as the Ryman then they better be ready to raise the rafters,” Miller said with a smile and laugh.
Recently, the Kentucky native shared snippets of two unreleased songs, including “I’m Done” and “Breaking The Bank,” as well as discussed his upcoming 10-song debut album.
“We’re putting together an album for the folks,” Miller said. “A lot of people want to hear some original material, and we cut about six tracks, and I’ve gotten vocals down on four of ‘em.”
He later added, “so y’all better be watching out because Alex Miller’s gonna have him an album out before too long. I feel the songs, me and Jerry Salley, the producer of the record, we co-wrote ‘em together, and they’re really good. And I actually recorded one that Jerry co-wrote with some other folks, and I recorded one from an outside source, so we’re doing some different things, but a lot of it is original material, and I’m so excited for it. I hope y’all are ready for it.”
Additionally, Miller is gearing up to open for some of his musical heroes, including Josh Turner and Hank Williams Jr., see a full list of Miller’s upcoming tour dates HERE.
