The Academy Of Country Music announced their forthcoming special release of “On The Road Again (ACM Lifting Lives Edition)” on Monday (August 10).

The star-studded released of Willie Nelson’s timeless hit will feature the 55th ACM Awards New Female and Male Artist nominees including Ingrid Andress, Gabby Barrett, Jordan Davis, Russell Dickerson, Lindsay Ell, Riley Green, Caylee Hammack, Cody Johnson, Tenille Townes and Morgan Wallen, joined by Nelson.

“On The Road Again (ACM Lifting Lives Edition)” was produced by Ross Copperman and Jimmy Robbins, and will be available via Warner Music Nashville across all digital platforms and can be heard on Country Radio beginning on Thursday (August 13).

“The Academy is honored to work with Willie Nelson and all 10 ACM Awards New Artist Nominees to create a new contemporary version of the classic ‘On the Road Again (ACM Lifting Lives Edition)’ that is so poignant for our current times,” said Damon Whiteside, CEO of the Academy of Country Music. “This is a powerful way to showcase so many of our newer and fast-rising artists alongside one of our genre’s most legendary artists and iconic songs of all time. It feels very appropriate that this event will raise much needed funds for our Country Music industry members in financial crisis through our ACM Lifting Lives COVID-19 Response Fund. A huge thank you to the artists, Ross Copperman and Jimmy Robbins as well as our friends at Warner Music Nashville for donating their time to this important project.”

The song is written by Willie Nelson for the 1980 film, Honeysuckle Rose, which he also starred in.

All proceeds from the single will benefit ACM Lifting Lives COVID-19 Response Fund to be given to individuals in the Country Music community who are in need of pandemic relief assistance. You can learn more about the fund HERE.

55th ACM Awards New Female and New Male Artist of the year winners will be announced in the coming weeks. After the annual award ceremony was postponed due to the coronavirus earlier this year in Las Vegas, the award ceremony will take place in Nashville, TN for the first time in the show’s history. The show will be broadcasting from three iconic Country Music venues including Grand Ole Opry House, The Historic Ryman Auditorium and The Bluebird Cafe, hosted by Keith Urban.

The 55th ACM Awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, September 16 at 8-11 p.m. EST on CBS and will also be available to stream on demand on CBS All Access.
