Here’s What Mike Fisher Thinks Of Carrie Underwood & Jason Aldean’s “If I Didn’t Love You” Duet

Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean’s chart-topping duet, “If I Didn’t Love You,” is Mike Fisher-approved.

While rehearsing for the CMA Awards, Underwood recalled the moment she first heard the song and shared Fisher’s reaction to the track.

“We got this song, and I was sitting on my couch, we kind of wind down our day like watching some TV, and I was listening on my phone and even my husband, who was sitting nearby was like ‘what’s that?’ and I was like ‘oh, it’s this song that they sent through to maybe sing with Jason.’ He’s like, ‘I like it,’ I said ‘so do I,’” Underwood revealed.

The following morning, the seven-time GRAMMY winner phoned her manager.

“’I like this, what’s the next steps? What do we do?,’” she recalled telling her colleague.

Things moved pretty quickly after that.

“It was like bam, bam, bam, which I really feel like is cool because so many times you get a song, and you record it, and you’re really excited about it, and then you have to wait like a year before everybody else hears it,” she admitted. “We had so much instant gratification recording this song.”

Aldean agreed, adding, “This one came out quick.”

“I think from the time we recorded it till it was on the radio might’ve been maybe a month and a half, maybe,” he went on to say. “It was pretty quick. And it typically never works out that fast, but it felt like we had something special and with me having a new album coming out, this was a song we wanted to kind of launch it with, and it was a good one. So, I’m glad that she was able to jump on it and kind of took it to a different place for sure.

If I Didn’t Love You” became a two-week No.1 on both the Mediabase/Country Aircheck Singles chart and Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.

Underwood and Aldean will join forces to perform the emotional duet for the first time ever during the 55th Annual CMA Awards on Wednesday.
