Country music fans in Las Vegas were treated to quite the surprise on Friday evening (Dec. 3) when Miranda Lambert made a pop-up appearance at George Strait’s ‘Strait To Vegas’ show at T-Mobile Arena.
As Lambert graced the stage, joining Strait, she was greeted with a hug from the country icon and a thunderous applause from the shocked fans.
“That’s the King right there!” Lambert declared as she stepped onto the stage.
“Miranda, how you doing,” Strait asked.
“I’m damn glad to be right here, right now,” Lambert exclaimed.
The pair then treated fans to an unexpected collaboration.
“So, we’re going to do a song, we’re going to do one that we’ve done before. I love it,” Strait said.
“Texans are very, very proud that we love to sing all about Texas,” Lambert added.
The hitmakers from the Lone Star State went on to perform a duet of “Run,” a track co-written by Anthony Smith and Tony Lane. The song, recorded by Strait, appears as the lead single on his Platinum album, The Road Less Traveled (2001).
“The King George Strait, Vegas, thanks for letting me come hang out,” Lambert shared as the performance came to a close.
Before Lambert exited the stage, she and Strait shared a hug as the capacity crowd roared with applause.
Lambert previously toured with Strait in the mid-2000s, following her stint on Nashville Star.
They didn’t share the stage together until 2014 when Lambert joined him at AT&T Stadium for the final show of his touring career. That night, they performed “Run” and “How ‘Bout Them Cowgirls.”
“Miranda Lambert is a great artist. She’s a great singer, songwriter and performer,” Strait previously shared. “I’ve toured with her before, so I knew how good she was… Never sang with her during the tour… So the past two years was doing duets with people was great. She chose to do ‘How ’bout them Cowgirls’ and ‘Run’… I was excited about doing it with her, and she just killed it.”
The pair later joined forces to perform “Run” at the 54th ACM Awards in 2019.
Strait will continue his two-night concert residency tonight (Dec. 4) at T-Mobile Arena, which features support from Caitlyn Smith.
Strait To Vegas will return to Sin City for another two-night concert series, with support from Tenille Townes, on February, 11 and 12, 2022.
