Eric Church shut down Nashville’s Pedestrian Bridge for an epic performance!
The pre-taped performance found the country superstar surrounded by fans, performing live from the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, which overlooks the Cumberland River in Downtown Nashville, the reigning CMA Entertainer Of The Year performed “Heart Of The Night” during CMA Summer Jam.
“Put lightning in this Thunderbird till the metal comes alive / The rhythm of the road will give these horses wings to fly / And my true north is anywhere I can leave it all behind / Let’s point this thing west into the chest of the still beating heart of the night,” Church sings in the chorus of the track.

For Church getting to perform live is a moment he will never take for granted again after the past year, he even joked at this point he will play at a 5-year-old birthday party.
“The place that I’m most excited to perform is um anywhere because it’s been that long and um I’ve tried to get like 5 year old birthday party gigs and um anybody that would hire ya know a guy that in sunglasses to play, but um I’ll play anywhere,” Church said with a smile on his face. “I think the band will play anywhere, and I think it harkens back to at least for us the it’s about the love of music and I think one thing about COVID and coming out of COVID is um I don’t think I took things for granted. I really don’t because I really tried to soak in the moment and take in the moment, but if I did take anything for granted, I won’t do it again and we can’t wait to get back out there.”
“Heart Of the Night” was co-written by Church alongside Travis Hill, Jeremy Spillman, Ryan Tyndell and Jeff Hyde. The track appears on Heart, the first album of Church’s three part trilogy, Heart & Soul.
CMA Summer Jam also featured performances from Jimmie Allen, Gabby Barrett, Dierks Bentley, Brothers Osborne, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Florida Georgia Line, Mickey Guyton, Miranda Lambert, Carly Pearce, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Cole Swindell, Thomas Rhett, Carrie Underwood, and Lainey Wilson.
Additionally, the three-hour show included star-studded collaborations by Bentley with HARDY & BRELAND, Underwood and Dwight Yoakam, Lambert with Brothers Osborne, Florida Georgia Line feat. Thomas Rhett, newlyweds Shelton and Stefani, as well as Swindell & Bryan.
CMA Summer Jam aired on Thursday, September 2 (live 8:00-11:00 PM ET) on ABC.
