On the heels of his single, “Fancy Like,” going No. 1 at country radio, Walker Hayes released a brand-new single and revealed details for his upcoming new album.
On Friday (Nov. 19), the viral country hitmaker shared his brand-new single, “AA,” a song co-written by Hayes with Shane McAnally and Luke Laird, and produced by Joe Thibodeau and McAnally. The song taps into all the things fans love about “Fancy Like,” but this time, brings in Hayes’ deeper side. True to form, Hayes sings about the experiences of everyday Americans, with “AA” hitting on his anxieties as a dad, his love for his wife Laney, and his own journey with sobriety.
He sings, “And I’m just tryna keep my daughters off the pole / And my sons out of jail / Tryna get to church, so I don’t go to hell / I’m just tryna keep my wife from figuring out / That I married up, and she married way, way down / In Alabama where they love Nick Saban / Tryna write a song the local country station will play / Hey, I’m just tryna stay out of AA (AA, ooh).”
“At the end of the day, we are all just doing the best we can,” Hayes said of the song, “and what I really mean to say with this song is just that I’m trying to stay the course. I’ve struggled with alcohol abuse, and sometimes I wish I didn’t need AA, but I do. I think a lot of people can relate to that. I’m just trying to be the best dad and husband I can be. It’s not easy all the time, but my wife smiles a lot and my kids are growing up with more than I had, and that’s a really good thing.”

“With ‘U Gurl’ we wanted to capture that feeling when you look at your significant other, and you just can’t take your eyes off them, yet in a fresh way,” Hayes previously shared in a press release. “I get that feeling every day when I look at my wife.”
Additionally, Hayes recently announced his headlining ‘Fancy Like’ Tour, which will kick off in Grand Rapid, MI on January 27, 2022. Joining the country singer will be special guest, MacKenzie Porter.
The 19-date Fancy Like Tour will visit New York, Knoxville, Nashville and more before wrapping up in Louisville on April 30, 2022.
“It has been so fun to watch everyone react to ‘Fancy Like,’ from TikTok, to Country Radio, to Pop Radio. I can’t wait to finally hit the road and play it live for the fans who have made it so big,” Hayes shared in a statement. “After almost two years with no shows, it feels so good to get back up on stage and see you all in person.”
