Considered to be one of the most exciting voices in the industry, Tiera Kennedy is an emerging artist that country music lovers should definitely keep on their radar.

As she readies her debut album, the sweet-yet-sassy songstress sat down with Music Mayhem to chat about all things music, including her newest single titled “Jesus, My Mama, My Therapist,” her soon-to-be released track titled “I Ain’t A Cowgirl,” the full-length album she has in the works and more.

Forthcoming Debut Project

With loads of new tunes on the horizon (with no set release date just yet), Kennedy revealed what exactly her forthcoming project will entail, and fans seriously cannot contain their excitement.

The rising country star explained, “It’s basically the story of my life, you know, from the beginning of getting into music to now… It’s been really cool to write this one, because I got to write it with my friends and, you know, be a little bit more vulnerable than I could be with anybody else.”

“At the beginning of writing this project, I didn’t realize I was making a project. I just was writing songs I loved and kind of telling my story, and it’s been super cool to see how all of these songs have fit together in this project, and I really hope that people can listen to it and come out of it feeling like, you know, a friend,” she continued passionately.

While the Alabama native is known for her upbeat, danceable anthems, her upcoming album will span all different facets of Tiera Kennedy, featuring music that country music lovers have yet to hear from the one-of-a-kind vocalist.

“I mean, you’re still going to have those jammers in there. That is me at the core, and I can’t get rid of that, even if I wanted to… We’ve got some love songs in there. I have a song that I feel like is my ‘Before He Cheats’ moment… It’s just all over the map,” she explained, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.

“Jesus, My Mama, My Therapist”

One of the first songs to stem from this forthcoming project is the oh-so catchy “Jesus, My Mama, My Therapist,” which hit all music streaming platforms this past July.

Co-written alongside her longtime friends Emily Falvey, Joe Fox, Trannie Anderson and Emily Landis, “Jesus, My Mama, My Therapist” is as groovy as can be, but it also has a meaning that is super special to the talented singer-songwriter.

“It is about three of the most important people in my life, the people that I feel like I can go to with all my dirty laundry and they’re not going to air it out to the world, and you know, I feel like everybody’s got those three people, even if it’s not Jesus, their mama, and their therapist. I feel like we’ve all got our trusted group of people in our lives,” Kennedy shared.

While “Jesus, My Mama, My Therapist” was released on all music streaming platforms this past summer, the tune has recently been sent to country radio, a massive feat for the soon-to-be superstar.

“So the first time I heard ‘Jesus, My Mama, My Therapist’ on the radio, it was actually on The Highway… It was one of my goals to have a song on The Highway for a long time, and so for it to be that song was really exciting, and to just have a song on radio in general is really cool,” Kennedy explained, reminiscing on the moment the beloved single made its radio debut.

“I Ain’t A Cowgirl”

While “Jesus, My Mama, My Therapist” will undoubtedly be a part of the talented singer-songwriter’s full-length album, another song Kennedy has teased on social media is a tune titled “I Ain’t A Cowgirl,” which she has deemed to be the most personal song that she has ever written.

“Every time I’m gonna walk into the room, I’m gonna always preface it with like, ‘Okay, we’re not gonna write a slow song. We’re not writing a sad song. We’re not getting into the emotions.’ I was totally against it, and then we wrote this song called ‘I Ain’t a Cowgirl’ that I think is the most personal song I’ve ever written,” she prefaced, prior to diving into the meaning of the track itself.

“I feel like a lot of being an artist, I think sometimes people think that it’s all glamorous and really fun, and the reality is, sometimes it’s not. A lot of times it’s really hard, and you know, there are a lot of hurdles to get through behind the scenes,” the 24-year-old explained. “I just had a lot of that happening, back to back, all in one moment, and I just was questioning like, ‘Oh my gosh. Is this what I’m supposed to be doing? Am I on the right path?’”

Song Was A Result Of What Felt Like a “Therapy Session”

“I feel like my co-writers are always the ones that bring me back to center and remind me why I got into music… I felt like I had walked out of a therapy session after we wrote it, and I really wanted to share that side of myself with people, because you know, I feel like we all are struggling with something. No matter what walk of life we’re on, we’ve all got our struggles, and that song has really gotten me through those hard days, and you know, I hope when people listen to it, that it’ll help them get through that as well,” Kennedy concluded passionately.

“No matter what walk of life you’re on, we’ve all got our own struggles. I wrote this song to get through my hard days, and I hope it does the same for you. Send this to a friend to spread the love,” she wrote, coinciding with a teaser of the track that she shared via Instagram.

Naturally, fans resonated with the tear-jerking tune, despite it remaining unreleased until further notice.

“😭😭😭 Girl, you hit that tear nerve. This song and your voice is absolutely beautiful. Did you write this? Perfection,” one of her followers shared in the comment section of the reel. Another fan wrote, “This made my insides warm and my soul happy. 🥰”

“Chills everywhere, this is so so good! Felt it to my core,” a third gushed.

Aside from creating some soon-to-be smash hits, the Alabama native has recently given modeling a try, posing for the cover of Nashville Lifestyles‘ Most Beautiful People edition for the month of October.

“HOLY FREAKING COW MY FIRST EVER MAGAZINE COVER!!!! Thank you, @nashvillelifestyles,” Tiera Kennedy shared via Instagram, garnering an overwhelmingly positive response from her 38.3k followers.

Deemed One Of The Most Beautiful People In Nashville

In the same interview with Music Mayhem, the budding country star gushed about being deemed one of the most beautiful people in the entirety of Nashville, Tennessee.

“It’s wild that that’s happening. It’s my first magazine cover ever, so I’m really excited about that, and obviously it’s like really cool to be on that list. I feel like kind of vain talking about it sometimes, but yeah, I’m super thankful.”

While Kennedy is being honored for her outer beauty within the Most Beautiful People edition of Nashville Lifestyles, the star-in-the-making hopes to be acknowledged for her inner beauty as well, a part of her that is equally as incredible.

“I hope that, you know, people see me as a beautiful person on the outside of course, but also on the inside. I hope that comes across, but yeah, I’m super excited about the cover. It’s gonna be so cool to be a part of that,” she concluded with a beaming smile.
