Thomas Rhett and Teddy Swims delivered a show-stopping, soulful pop-country performance at the 2024 CMA Awards on Wednesday evening (Nov. 20) that had the star-studded audience swaying along in their seats.

The country superstar and viral superstar teamed up to deliver an unforgettable medley that blended Rhett’s “Somethin’ Bout A Woman” with Swims’ chart-topping hit, “Lose Control.”

“What’s up CMAs, you ready to party with us one time? Get on your feet, baby!” Rhett told the crowd as he and Swims made their way from the Crown Royal lounge backstage to the coveted awards show stage. Upon arriving to the CMA Awards stage, the crowd erupted into cheers. The genre-bending performance then found Rhett and Swims trading verses on “Somethin’ Bout A Woman” before blending their vocals together for a smooth harmony on the chorus.

“Make your heart start to beat/Make you sweat, make you dream,” the pair effortlessly sang on the track’s chorus. “Lose your mind, lose your sleep/Pushin’ me, doin’ things I thought I couldn’t/Aw, there’s just somethin’ ’bout a woman.”

Swims went on to kick off their collaborative performance of “Lose Control” by belting out the opening lyrics to the anthemic track. Swims powerful voice immediately drew everyone in and grasped their attention through the remainder of the performance with his mesmerizing vocal talents.

“I lose control/ When you’re not next to me (when you’re not here with me)/ I’m fallin’ apart right in front of you, can’t you see?/ I lose control/ When you’re not next to me, mm-hm/ Yeah, you’re breakin’ my heart, baby/ You make a mess of me,” Swims sang on the chorus of “Lose Control.”

Rhett and Swims even had the superstars in the crowd feeling it and singing along, including Jelly Roll and his wife Bunnie XO.

Ahead of the CMA Awards, Swims and Rhett opened up about the performance during a discussion with the Country Music Association (CMA).

“This is my first CMA, so I’m really, really excited to be sharing stage with an absolute legend here and being at CMAs for the first time,” Swims explained. ”And I’m excited to get a call from my daddy right afterward and him be so proud, man. That’s what I’m looking forward to, man. My daddy’s reaction.”

Rhett then added, “So we’re performing a song that we did together this year called ‘Somethin’ Bout A Woman,’ and also getting into one of Teddy’s massive global smashes called ‘Lose Control.’”

He then recalled getting Swims on the track, “Me and Teddy have known each other for five years now, and I remember sending him the record, and he was like, ‘yo, I love this song.’ And he kind of hopped on it after the record came out. We were just in LA maybe a month ago and got to film a bunch of content for it. So I’m just excited to do a whole bunch of the stupid stuff we did during that content day on stage. But I mean, anytime you get to hang out with this dude, it’s just nothing but fun. So I think for me, I’m excited to kind of get out there and allow Nashville just to let loose a little bit and have fun with us.”
