NBC’s The Voice Battle Rounds kick off on Monday (Oct. 11) and coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Ariana Grande are bringing along a star-studded list of talent to help advise their teams.
In a clip shared on Saturday (Oct. 9), the popular singing competition show introduced fans to their Season 21 battle advisors: Dierks Bentley, Kristen Chenoweth, Camila Cabello and Jason Aldean.
Watch the clip below.
Team Blake Shelton: Dierks Bentley
The clip opened with Shelton knocking on his advisor’s door, which opened and finds fellow country superstar Dierks Bentley on the other side in his dressing room.
“What happened to your hair? Where have you been? What are you doing buddy?” Shelton said as they hugged and Bentley joked, “Where’s yours?”
“I brought in none other than my old friend Dierks Bentley. Dierks is GRAMMY-nominated, he’s won tons of country awards, he just brings a ton of experience to the table,” Shelton said of his advisor, Bentley.
“Blake, a good friend of mine, go way back, we kind of cut our teeth on the same type of music and both old school honky tonkers,” Bentley added. “I’m so excited to get to go in there and offer up any advice that I can to help them not only here on The Voice. But to help them down the road, with whatever they do with their career.”
Bentley then dubbed Blake’s team, “Team DLake,” after meeting the contestants that he will be advising.
Team Blake consists of Peedy Chavis, Wendy Moten, Lana Scott, Hailey Green, The Joy Reunion, Carson Peters, Kaitlyn Velez, Berritt Haynes, Clint Sherman, Manny Keith, Libianca and Tommy Edwards.
Team Ariana Grande: Kristen Chenoweth
As the just over 4-minute clip continued, coach Ariana Grande introduced her advisor, Kristen Chenoweth.
After screaming at first-sight of each other, Grande gushed over her advisor, Chenoweth.
“My advisor is the one and only, Kristen Chenoweth,” Grande said with enthusiasm. “I have grown up worshiping and studying Kristen. I will never forget the first I met you. I was 10-years-old, and I came backstage at Wicked.”
“Yes, you sang and that’s when I knew,” Chenoweth gushed of the “Thank U Next” singer. “I mean, [just] 10-years-old.”
“She has originated some of the most iconic roles of all time, and I’ve been so blessed to learn from her. Been watching her and later on in my life being able to work with her. So I felt who better to bring with me to this space than the person I feel I’ve learned the most from professionally.”
Team Ariana contestants entered the room freaking out, which Grande said she can relate to as that’s “me every time I see you.”
Team Ariana consists of Katie Rae, Katherine Ann Mohler, Vaughn Mugoi, Chavon Rodgers, Jim and Sasha Allen, Raquel Trinidad, Hailey Mia, Bella DeNapoli, David Vogel, Ryleigh Plank, Sophia Bromberg and KCK3.
Team John Legend: Camila Cabello
John Legend then welcomed Latin pop superstar Camila Cabello, who will act as Team Legend’s advisor for Season 21 of NBC’s The Voice.
“So the advisor for Team Legend this year is Camila Cabello,” the coach told viewers.
“You know I started on a singing competition,” Cabello told Legend in the clip, which he replied, “I know I was reading about you and how you got into Fifth Harmony and you all became the most important group that came from that show.
“I would not be where I am today if I hadn’t auditioned for a show like this,” Cabello said, referencing X-Factor. “It genuinely gives people an opportunity, which I think is so amazing and so beautiful.”
“Camila’s a Platinum-selling artist, she’s won Latin GRAMMYs, she’s performed all around the world, and she’s bringing that expertise to The Voice,” Legend exclaimed.
Team Legend includes Jonathan Mouton, Jack Rogan, Samuel Harness, Joshua Vacanti, Paris Winningham, Keliah Grace, Samara Brown, Janora Brown, KJ Jennings, Sabrina Dias, Brittany Bree and Shadale.
Team Kelly Clarkson: Jason Aldean
“I’m so happy you’re here,” Clarkson told Aldean, which he replied “Thanks for having me, I appreciate it.”
“For my advisor, I brought in Jason Aldean, I love him. He’s a friend of mine. Get ready for every genre of music,” Clarkson added.
“Perfect, I love it!” Aldean gushed. “I’m excited to be here.”
“I thought Jason would be perfect to help my artists, because if you’ve seen Jason perform, it’s like a little bit of rock, soulfulness, blues and country. He’s got a lot of different kinds of flavors going on in there and my team is like that. We didn’t really know each other until we sang ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay.’”
“The biggest duet that I did in my career is the duet I did with Kelly,” Aldean said. “It was a huge, huge song for me that introduced me to a whole new fan base.”
“I feel very fortunate to have had the career I’ve had and to come and share some of that knowledge,” Aldean added.
Team Kelly features Girl Named Tom, Kinsey Rose, Carolina Alonso, Gymani, Jeremy Rosado, Holly Forbes, The Cunningham Sisters, Jershika Maple, Xavier Cornell, Wyatt Michael, Aaron Hines and Parker McKay.
