Country music star, Morgan Wallen returns to the limelight with a bang. Earlier this year, the “Wasted On You” singer received backlash and was suspended by Big Loud Records after a video circulated online of him using a racial slur.
Following the incident, the breakout artist has been inching his way back into the industry – leaving fans hungry for new music or a full-fledged arena trek. Therefore, when Wallen announced he would be hitting the road in 2022 to headline The Dangerous Tour, concert-goers rushed to ticketing platforms to snag a seat.
To bring the highest-selling album of 2021, Dangerous: The Double Album, across the United States – Wallen is working alongside his label, Big Loud, to embark on his recently announced, highly-anticipated tour dubbed The Dangerous Tour.
The show featuring country newcomers HARDY and Larry Fleet will kick off on February 3 in Evansville, Indiana, and wrap up at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Before the tickets had the chance to go on sale to the general public, several of the shows sold out during pre-sale.
After seeing the high demand, the megastar added more shows in several cities, including at Madison Square Garden in New York City and Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. In a matter of minutes, the second show at Bridgestone Arena sold out, and Wallen decided to add a third show at the popular Nashville arena.
In a recent report issued by Pollstar, Wallen was ranked just below The Rolling Stones, who came in first in ticket sales. Pollstar’s LIVE75 chart categories worldwide active tours by average tickets sold for reported shows played over the last 30 days. Most recently, the platform revised chart eligibility to incorporate concerts that took place within the previous 60 days.
The Rolling Stones is currently in the midst of their stadium tour and have scored the number one spot on the chart with just over 43,000 average tickets sold. Following the iconic band is Morgan Wallen, with 27,645 tickets sold. Despite the scandal, Wallen is the top-selling country act on the prestigious list.
Following closely behind is Eric Church in third place, with an average of 15,633 tickets sold for his Gather Again Tour. Earning the fourth spot is Luke Combs with 14,431, beating out the beloved Jonas Brothers with 13,567 tickets sold.
While Church and Combs scored just below the rising star, fans should keep in mind that he played outdoor venues with larger capacities. Although the rapid ticket sales for his upcoming arena 2022 tour, just proves that Wallen can only go up from here.
