After what seems like weeks of teasing fans, from cryptic posts on her social media platforms to a revamped website complete with a countdown to today’s date of April 26th and her surprise appearance at the Nashville Gulch butterfly mural today in Nashville, TN.
Taylor Swift has officially unveiled her new anthemic song “Me!” which features Brendon Urie (of Panic! At The Disco) from her highly anticipated forthcoming seventh studio album, that has yet to be detailed. This new song comes as the first release since leaving her longtime record label, Big Machine Label Group and her first release on her new label home of Universal Music Group’s Republic Records. The collaborative song was also accompanied by a music video for the song which first appeared on Swift’s YouTube channel, which can be viewed below.
This is Urie and Swift’s first-ever collaboration together and that has been rumored for quite some time on social media by Swift fans after Urie said he would love to collaborate with her someday. This new song is very unique and a shocker to most but we love it and it seems that Panic! At The Disco fans are also in love with the new song.
Swift said in an interview earlier tonight with Robin Roberts on the NFL Draft that the song “ME!” is about “embracing your own individuality, and really celebrating it and owning it. I think that with a pop song like this we have the ability to get a melody stuck in peoples heads and I just want it to be one that makes them feel better about themselves.”
The music video brings elaborate scenes of vibrant pastel colors after a vicious snake explodes into butterflies at the opening of the video, which shows its the beginning of the new era as reputation has been put to rest and the snakes are gone.
“ME!” comes as the first new music of the new era from Swift since the release of her record-breaking sixth studio album, reputation. We look forward to more information on TS7 in the coming weeks, all we do know about this is that this is the fifth track off of the new record.
Make sure you tune into Good Morning America for possibly another Taylor Swift Surprise at between 7-9AM EST, along with an interview about the new song with Robin Roberts.
