Sierra Ferrell is already a big winner ahead of the 2025 GRAMMYs!
The 36-year-old West Virginia-born singer took home four GRAMMY Awards during the 67th GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony, ahead of the main awards show broadcast. Rhiannon Giddens, founder of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, announced Ferrell’s wins, and the singer was present in the star-studded audience to accept her prestigious awards.
Each time her name was called as a winner, Sierra Ferrell made her way to the stage to collect her gramophones.
Best Americana Performance: “American Dreaming”
First, she took home the award for Best Americana Performance for “American Dreaming.”
“I want to say thank you to my mom for one. I love my mother and to my little dog baker and to my production crew Eddie Spears and Gary Petrozza and to my gals out on the road with me who help keep me together and keep the wheels rolling, that’s hot dog and mama hot dog Bobby and Jen Marlo and I honestly wasn’t expecting this, and I want everyone in the category because everyone’s so beautiful in their own way, and they have their own essence. We have a spiritual warfare going on and I love you. So cheers,” Ferrell said during her acceptance speech.
Best American Roots Song: “American Dreaming”
Then moments later, she was announced as the winner of Best American Roots Song with “American Dreaming” alongside Melody Walker.
“Y’all she came over to my house, and she said ‘listen, listen I have an idea’ and you know she said I have this song ‘American Dreaming’ and honestly I didn’t know what to say to that because you know the American Dream is kind of a weird thing,” Ferrell said. Walker then joined the Americana superstar on stage to make a statement.
“I just want to thank you for being so raw and vulnerable when we wrote this song. I want to thank Paul and Tony for giving you a beehive while we did it. Thanks for believing in my songwriting, and thanks to everyone who believes in my songwriting. Thanks to my partner Jacob,” Walker added.
Best Americana Album: Trail Of Flowers
Giddens then unveiled Ferrell as the recipient of the GRAMMY for Best Americana Album for her latest project, Trail Of Flowers.
“Honestly, this is kind of hilarious… I just walked off the stage, and they’re like ‘nah, just wait right here.’ And I’m like, ‘really.’ I want to thank my bookers, I got Keith and Yitzy over there, they’re here. I want to thank anyone whose been helping me get along out here. You know life is hard and touring is hard. Touring is hard, it’s honestly very unnatural, but it’s beautiful to get out there and share because we all deserve to share our things. So, I love y’all. Thank you.”
Best American Roots Performance: “Lighthouse”
And it didn’t stop there. Ferrell was later revealed as the winner of Best American Roots Performance with her song, “Lighthouse.”
“Yikes! Thank you so much, I forgot… I got so caught up earlier from the anxiety of winning something that I forgot to thank the most important thing, which is God and how magical we all are as people. And the power of prayer is so powerful, and don’t forget to say your prayers. Also, thank you to Rounder Records, I didn’t say that earlier,” Ferrell stated. “Kacey Musgraves said it best right before I got up here, that there’s a lot of darkness going on, and it’s good to be singing songs to help people get through stuff. I love you all.”
