With over 703,500 followers on TikTok, musical artist Nate Vickers is steadily gaining traction.
A Houston native with a powerful voice, Vickers frequently posts short videos covering popular songs from Toni Braxton, Ed Sheeran, Avril Lavigne, Goo Goo Dolls, and more. And while Vickers’ fans often flood the comments on his videos praising his musical range and vocal talents, they aren’t the only ones taking notice.
Brent Smith (frontman of the rock band Shinedown), Scott Stapp (frontman of the rock band Creed), Jacoby Shaddix (frontman of the rock band Papa Roach), Jared Leto (frontman of the rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars) and even metalcore band Crown The Empire have all complimented Vickers after hearing his covers of their songs.
Shinedown
Smith, who made a stitch video on TikTok with Vickers, complimented the singer, saying his “talent is incredible” while reacting to a cover of his band’s song, “45.”
Scott Stapp
Stapp expressed a similar sentiment upon hearing Vickers sing Creed’s song, “My Sacrifice.”
“Incredible job bro! LOVE IT,” Stapp wrote, adding a flame emoji.
Papa Roach
“Love seeing your covers of our songs,” Shaddix agreed, flashing Vickers a thumbs up as well as the rock ‘n roll salute after watching the Houston native cover Papa Roach’s song, “Scars.”
Thirty Seconds To Mars
“Damn,” Leto remarked as he listened to Vickers cover Thirty Seconds to Mars’ song, “The Kill (Bury Me).” “Nice work brother,” he added in the caption of a TikTok video of Vickers’ version of the song.
“Acoustic version of our song ‘In Another Life’ by the talented Nate Vickers,” Crown the Empire said, re-posting Vickers’ cover to Facebook in October 2022, including a black heart emoji in the caption.
Nate Vickers Cover Of Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris” Has Amasses Over 4 Million Views
One of the most popular songs Vickers has covered is the Goo Goo Dolls hit, “Iris,” which racked up over 4 million views on TikTok. Because so many fans loved Vickers’ version of the song, he released a full-length cover on YouTube.
“Thank you all so much for the support on my other platforms, the snippet I did reached over 7 million views in just a week, completely mind-blowing. I hope you all enjoy,” he wrote.
Besides posting cover videos of popular artists’ songs, Vickers also makes his own music.
Vickers Also Has Original Music
Vickers has released multiple singles, including “Ghost” (2019), “Can’t Sleep” (2020), “Love or Lie” (2021), “Sad Boys (Acoustic)” (2021), and others on Spotify, where he boasts 24, 313 monthly listeners. He also released a stripped version of “Can’t Sleep” in 2022.
“I always think that you been lying to me / Cus I can’t trust what I can’t see / And all these things that you been keeping from me / They’re haunting me / Now I can’t sleep while you’re resting peacefully,” Vickers sings. “Yeah / I don’t wanna be alone / But I’m better off without you / Better off without you / I don’t wanna say you’re wrong / But you took my love for granted / I knew that you were damaged yeah / I didn’t mind I thought we were right / But now that you gone I keep dreaming / I’m looking calm but I’m screaming / On the inside”
“This isn’t right I thought we were fine / But we been battling demons / I guess they numbed all your feelings / But in my eyes / This isn’t over / It cannot be over / I haven’t been sober / Heart getting colder / Look over my shoulder / But nobody’s home yeah / This isn’t over / It cannot be over / Our love growing colder / When I get closer,” he continues to sing on the tune.
Although Vickers has not released any new tunes so far this year, he appears to be working on new music based on a Jan. 4 Instagram post.
