Sam Hunt Is Preparing To Release A New Album

While Hunt hasn’t released a full-length project since 2020’s SOUTHSIDE, the wait will soon be over as he continues to tease his highly-anticipated next album with new track “Walmart,” released this February.

Penned by the Georgia-native alongside Zach Crowell, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, the somber single finds Hunt looking back on a failed relationship after a run-in with his ex’s mother at Walmart.

“I saw your mama at Walmart with your little girl/ She had your eyes and your smile, she had your nose and your lips/ Somewhere in our little small-town, small talk girl/ Lost in the grocery aisle, holding a bag of some chips/ I realize that everything happens for a reason/ Losing your love ain’t the end of the world/ I saw your mama at Walmart with your little girl/ Your little girl, your little girl,” sings Hunt in the heartbreaking lyrics.

Prior to his most recent release, Hunt delivered singles “Water Under The Bridge” in the summer of 2022, and “Start Nowhere” last November.

Additionally, Sam Hunt opened up about “Water Under The Bridge,” a track that he co-wrote alongside Chris LaCorte, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, and the upcoming record.

“This record, and the songs that I’ve been writing since the pandemic, they’re all sort of from the place of a guy who’s gone out into the world, experienced the world, seen a lot of things, learned a lot of life lessons but has come full circle and made it back home and is really appreciating where he’s from,” explained Hunt. “That’s a big part of my journey since I left home.”

He continued, “I’m recording right now… I have the songs sitting there. A couple of them are missing a line or two. I just need to get the lyric ironed out. But, I’ve already recorded five or six. There are obstacles to getting it all done in one big swoop, but it’s coming together. I’m in the recording phase right now, trying to get it all buttoned up.”
