Randy Parton, Singer And Brother To Dolly Parton, Dead At 67

Dolly Parton’s brother, Randy Parton, has died at the age of 67, following his battle with cancer.

In a statement released just before 10 a.m. EST on Thursday (Jan. 21) via Dolly Parton’s Facebook, she told fans “my brother Randy has lost his battle with cancer.”

“The family and I are grieving his loss but we know he is in a better place than we are at this time,” the superstar continued. “We are a family of faith and we believe that he is safe with God and that he is joined by members of the family that have gone on before and have welcomed him with joy and open arms.”

The late musician and brother of Dolly recently appeared on her Christmas album, A Holly Dolly Christmas, for a brand new duet entitled “You Are My Christmas,” which Parton shared “was his last musical recording and he shined on it just like he’s shining in heaven now.”

Dolly added, “Randy was a great singer, writer, and entertainer. He sang, played guitar and bass in my band for many years. He headed his own show at Dollywood since it opened in 1986. He’s had several chart records of his own, but his duet with me on “Old Flames Can’t Hold A Candle To You” will always be a highlight in my own career.”

“We will always love him and he will always be in our hearts,” Dolly’s statement concluded.

Randy is the eighth of twelve children in the Parton family and is Dolly’s third sibling that has passed following her brother Floyd, who died in December 2018 and Larry, who died shortly after birth in 1955.

He is survived by his wife Deb, his daughter Heidi, son Sabyn and grandsons Huston and Trent.

Randy played guitar and bass in Dolly’s band for many year and has had his own show at Dollywood since in 1986.
