The iconic drummer Neil Peart of the band, Rush, has died at the age of 67 years old. As reported by Rolling Stone, Peart family spokesperson Elliott Mintz said that his official cause of death was brain cancer and that Peart has been battling the disease for three years. The diagnosis was never publicly mentioned to Rush fans.

A representative for the band also has confirmed Peart’s passing to Rolling Stone.

Neil announced his retirement from Rush in 2015 as he’d been battling chronic pain, such as tendonitis. Rush was then inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.

Peart passed away in Santa Monica at the age of 67 Years Old. Survived by his 10 year old daughter, Carrie Peart, and his loving wife.
