From straight out of Houston, Texas, Nate Vickers might just be the next big thing on the alternative-rock scene.
For those who have yet to hear any of his top-notch tunes — from “Over & Over” to “IN THE END” to “Hurt Myself” and beyond — the talented singer/songwriter is said to have “alternative-rock influences,” growing up alongside bands like Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, Nirvana, Incubus and more. Naturally, said influences are evident within his music, however, Vickers manages to make each and every song authentically him regardless.
“I feel like that has always kind of been embedded in me, and I guess my music is just kind of all of my inspirations drawn out into my own little style, because you can hear the inspiration of like the alternative rock and stuff like that, but it’s not like exactly that,” the talented singer/songwriter shared about his personal sound, explaining that he includes more pop-influenced melodies on occasion.

After describing who he is as an artist, Vickers then delved into the details of his musical journey with Music Mayhem in an exclusive interview, from his musical beginnings to now.
Musical Beginnings
According to the budding superstar, he has had a keen interest in music for as long as he can remember, all thanks to his neighbor.
“I had a drum set and a guitar from the age of five from one of my neighbors that I grew up with. He was an older man, and he definitely introduced me into music,” Nate Vickers dished. “After that, I started posting covers on YouTube when I was a sophomore in high school, so about 14, and I would just post covers like weekly.”
With “a little shed” in his backyard as a studio, Vickers spent his teenage years recording and making music to share via social media, honing in on his craft to reach the point that he’s at today. These YouTube covers quickly transitioned to TikTok covers as the years went on, allowing him to amass a whopping 1.4 million followers, and subsequently, a great deal of support.
Social Media Success
“I was always kind of like anti-TikTok and all that stuff before I started doing it, because I just was like, ‘It doesn’t matter. I’m just going to post videos on YouTube,’” Vickers admitted, however, this perspective changed when he had his first viral video on the app.
“I was singing a song in my studio and [one of my friends] just recorded me, and he was like, ‘Dude, you’re posting this on TikTok,’” the 27-year-old explained. “We posted it. I closed the phone. It didn’t matter. Then, I woke up the next day and I had like 200,000 views or something like that, and I was just like blown away.”
Once Vickers got started, he simply could not stop, describing himself as “an addict for posting,” beginning with covers and transitioning to some original tunes.
“I was just very excited to constantly post different covers and music… Now, I’m transitioning out of that and doing more original stuff, and that’s definitely what I’m like pouring my soul into right now is original music,” he teased. “Obviously, the covers and stuff will still be a part of the brand. I think it’s a little bit less now and more focused on the original stuff.”
Original Music
As mentioned, Vickers has started using TikTok to tease some original tunes, explaining what the fan reaction has been like so far while speaking with Music Mayhem.
Prefacing that “It’s definitely been pretty positive,” he dished, “Everybody that sees the music seems to like it, because my covers have always had that side of me in it. Now, I’m just expressing it with my own way, obviously: full band, full instrumental, not just acoustic.”
The soon-to-be superstar added, “It’s not something that I can compare to a cover, because covers already have like a fan base that hits the algorithm really well, so it’s kind of like I’m starting from the bottom up again, but not quite from zero.”

Vickers confirmed in our exclusive interview that views and engagement are not important to him, as he just wants to release music that he is proud of and passionate about, hoping that it can connect with others online: “Most of my songs — actually all of my songs –always have, you know, a deep and personal meaning that hopefully other people can relate to and kind of confide in.”
It seems like the authenticity and relatability has been working in his favor so far, as the alternative-rock artist has already amassed 245,586 monthly listeners on his original music via Spotify alone.
Vickers Quit His Job to pursue music full-time
After achieving some success, Vickers has finally found himself in a better place financially, allowing him to quit his job and pursue music wholeheartedly, taking to Instagram to share the news on August 26.
“I can’t believe I’m finally saying this but… I QUIT MY JOB,” he exclaimed. “I’m officially a full-time artist! I thought this day would never come. I worked at a retail sales job for going on 10 years with a dream of pursuing music as a career, and thanks to all of you for the overwhelming amount of support, i’m now able to live my dream.”
He continued, “Maintaining all of this while working 40 hours a week for a paycheck was starting to weigh on me physically and mentally more than I could handle, and I’m beyond grateful that chapter of my life has come to an end. I cannot wait to pour absolutely everything into this and create the best music I possibly can for you all to listen to.”
To top it off, he released an acoustic version of “Over & Over” to celebrate this impressive feat.
After sharing this oh-so exciting news with his 456k Instagram followers, Vickers opened up about the decision to quit his job while chatting with Music Mayhem as well: “I actually worked a sales retail job for almost 10 years. I started that job right out of high school, and I am now 27. I worked there full-time every single day, five days a week, and it was definitely not for me. No doubt about it.”
Adding that it was hard from him to come home from work exhausted and channel some creativity to work on new tunes, “it’s an amazing feeling” that he does not need to worry about the first part anymore. “It’s awesome just being able to wake up and just focus on things that I want to focus on and not have to be told what to do or have somebody trying to degrade me or customers coming in and talking down on me,” Vickers concluded.
What’s next?
After quitting his job, Vickers is ready to “write as much great music as he can and release as much great music as he can for the next six months to a year,” and fans seriously cannot contain their excitement.
“So happy for you. The retail life is no joke,” one fan wrote in his comment section. “It’s not worth missing out on your dreams. Go for them while you can! So happy for you and excited for you to drop some new music 🫶🏼”

With new tunes on the horizon, the rising superstar added that a tour may be in the works for mid-to-late 2025, so be sure to connect with the talented singer/songwriter on Instagram @natevickers and TikTok @natevickers to stay tuned on all the updates.
