Morgan Wallen unveiled that he will be releasing a brand-new song Mother’s Day weekend!

The East Tennessee native and country superstar took to TikTok on Friday evening (Apr. 29) to reveal that he will officially be releasing his previously teased new song, “Thought You Should Know,” on Friday, May 6.

“Thank you, Mama. Dropping this song for you on Mother’s Day weekend,” Wallen simply captioned an audio work tape of the new tune on TikTok, alongside a photo of him as a baby with his mother, Lesli.

Thank you Mama. Dropping this song for you on Mothers Day weekend.

The track, co-written by Wallen alongside Miranda Lambert and Nicolle Galyon, comes in the form of a phone call to his mom, Lesli Wallen and finds the country hitmaker giving his mom an update on his life and all the things that he has gone through recently.

“What’s going on mama? / Something’s just dawned on me  / I ain’t been home in some months / Been chasing songs and women / Making some bad decisions / God knows I’m drinking too much  / Yeah, I know you’ve been worrying ‘bout me / You’ve been losing sleep since ’93,” Wallen sings in the clip.

He continues to sing, “I thought you should know that all those prayers you thought you wasted on me / Must’ve finally made their way on through / I thought you should know I got me a new girl down in Jefferson City and she lets me fish whenever I want to / Yeah, I’m still proud of where I came from / Still you’re only damn son / Can you believe I’m on the radio? / Just thought you should know, Thought you should know, Thought you should know.”

“Thought You Should Know” follows “Don’t Think Jesus” and marks Wallen’s second new solo release since he dropped his record-breaking sophomore project, Dangerous: The Double Album, in January of 2021.

Morgan Wallen Previously Teased The New Song In May of 2021

Wallen first shared the song with fans on social media in Spring of 2021, when he released a live acoustic performance of tune on Instagram. The clip has amassed over 2.7 million views since he teased it.

The father of one shared the clip on May 22, 2021, and at the time he introduced the clip saying, “Wrote this song for my mom a while ago. Seemed like an appropriate time to share it.”

Additionally, the “Wasted On You” singer was recently announced to join the 2022 Billboard Music Awards performance lineup, marking his first major awards show performance since the n-word controversy.

The news comes just days after Wallen broke records with the release of his deeply personal new song, “Don’t Think Jesus.”

Wallen Is Currently Embarking On His Sold-Out Headlining Tour

Additionally, Morgan Wallen is currently in the midst of his massive The Dangerous Tour in support of the project. The tour, which is the biggest country tour of 2022 and runs through October, recently sold-out with over 800,000 tickets sold, according to Up2DateCountry.

In addition to HARDY and Larry Fleet, the country hitmaker recently added Lainey Wilson, Kameron Marlowe, Chase Rice, Ian Munsick, and ERNEST to his sold-out tour lineup.

The singer recently announced his first-ever Stadium show in Arlington, Texas, at Globe Life Field on October 8, 2022, with special guests HARDY, Mike Ryan and Jake Worthington.
