Morgan Wallen opened up about his son Indigo Wilder in a recent interview with RADIO.com’s Katie Neal ahead of his ACM Awards performance.

Neal launched the interview asking Wallen if he has been spending a lot of time with the baby during quarantine, he said he is spending as much time as Indigo’s mom will allow him to.

“Yeah, as much as his mom will let me,” said Wallen. “We’re not together or anything, so it’s a tricky situation but yeah, I’m actually going to see him after I get done with my interviews today. He’s a little bit over two months old. He’s starting to smile and get some strength about himself, It’s cool watching him get older.”

The resemblance between Wallen and his son is just insane, Indigo can certainly pass as a mini-me of the country star. He even admitted it when he told Neal that his mom recently sent him one of his baby photos and he compared it to his son and said he looked just like him.

“My mom actually sent me a picture of me when I was a baby the other day, making a certain face,” Wallen explained. “My son was making a similar face in another picture, and he looks just like me.”

“It’s gotta be pretty surreal to see that,” Neal asked.

“It is but I kind of expected it as me and my dad are the same way. So I kind of figured it might follow,” Wallen replied laughing.

Wallen welcomed his first child, a son named Indigo Wilder on Friday, July 10 at 5:43 p.m. with his ex-fiancée, Katie Smith. The baby weighed 6lbs, 13oz at birth. Indigo is the first child for both Wallen and Smith, the couple were engaged for 3 years before breaking up in 2019.

Morgan is scheduled to make his major awards show debut on Wednesday (Sept. 16) at the 55th ACM Awards performing his fan-favorite hit song “Whiskey Glasses.” He is also a first-time nominee, up for the ACM Award for New Male Artist Of The Year.

The country star is looking forward to the performance as he says it is their “first time playing together as a band at an awards show.” and that they are “really looking forward to it.”
