Miranda Lambert surprised with a brand new song called “They’ve Closed Down the Honky Tonks.”
The country superstar recently shared the self-penned track where the singer shared her feelings about the closed dive bars and live music venues because of the global health crisis. She even mentions how there isn’t anything sadder then cover Merle Haggard and hearing nobody singing along within the lyrics. Not only does she name drop Haggard but she also drops names of some Texas music venues, including the iconic Billy Bob’s Texas, where she recently hosted a residency for several days.
“Y’all they’ve closed down the honky tonks / And now my world ain’t turning / The jukebox ran out of change / And the neon lights ain’t buzzing / There ain’t nothin’ sadder / Then covering Haggard / And nobody singing along,” Lambert sings in the chorus.

Although this song was not a part of her, Jack Ingram and Jon Randall’s latest project, The Marfa Tapes. It comes in the same format, raw, intimate and no crazy production, just Lambert’s vocals and an acoustic guitar.
Additionally, the singer is set to perform on the upcoming 2021 CMT Music Awards on June 9 at 8/7c on CMT.
