Miranda Lambert will soon be honored by her home state of Texas.
The “Actin’ Up” singer will be honored by the Texas Medal of Arts Awards (TMAA) in February 2023. The “signature event” of the Texas Cultural Trust, the TMAA recognizes “Texas leaders and luminaries who have achieved excellence through their creative talents, as well as those whose generosity has opened doors to artistic opportunity for Texas of all ages.”
Lambert is among the group of this year’s honorees, including actor Luke Wilson, Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, musician Christopher Cross, and others. The country singer reacted to the news of her receiving the prestigious honor via Instagram.
“I got my start in Texas and my honky tonk-loving heart will always carry a piece of it with me wherever I go. Thank you for this honor and for being there since the beginning, Texas. Love y’all,” she wrote, adding ❤️ and 🤠 emojis and tagging #ArtCanTexas and @txculturaltrust.
The two-day event is scheduled to take place on Feb. 21 and 22 in Austin, Texas.
Besides being honored at the TMAA, Lambert is also gearing up for her Las Vegas residency, Velvet Rodeo. Lambert posted a photo of three of her rescue pups to social media, sharing that she was heading to Sin City for rehearsals ahead of opening night on Sept. 23.
“Vegas here we come!,” Lambert said.

The Velvet Rodeo residency will include songs from Lambert’s eight No. 1 albums. Lambert discussed her latest venture, saying she was “excited” for fans to see what she has dreamed up.
“When you’ve been touring as long as I have, there’s something really creative about imagining a residency in a city like Las Vegas,” she explained. “I’ve had a lot of fun designing our sets, merchandise and clothing and boot lines – and even my place on Broadway in Nashville, Casa Rosa – so, this opportunity allows me to lean in a bit more into that side of myself and think about how to really bring country music to life in this room. I think everyone will like what we’ve dreamed up. I’m really excited about this!,” she added.
Lambert’s Velvet Rodeo residency will take place at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood from September 23, 2022 through April 2023.
