After breaking down in tears when “Whiskey And Rain” went No .1 last week, Michael Ray is ecstatic to learn that he just earned his first-ever multi-week No. 1 as the popular tune sits at the top of the charts for a second week.

The country hitmaker took to Instagram on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 16) to share his excitement via a video that he filmed while in his car.

“Thank you just doesn’t seem like enough……. WHISKEY AND RAIN IS OFFICIALLY MY FIRST TWO-WEEK #1!!!!” Ray captioned the video. “I’m sending all the love and support I’ve felt and continue to feel for this song right back to each and every one of y’all who called and requested it, streamed it like hell, and sung it loud back to us on tour. This #1 belongs to all of us!!!”

Michael Ray Two Week No. 1

“Yeah, Whiskey and the snow falling down, falling down, splash of Bourbon in a glass,” Ray sang as the clip opened, reimagining the lyrics to the chart-topping hit.

“What? Just getting word that we are No. 1 again this week, this is my first-ever, what is happening…” Ray said. “This is my first-ever multi-week No. 1, and I just want to say thank you so much for everything. Thank y’all for calling and requesting it, to my buddies that are hitting me up saying that they are hearing it all the time.”

Ray went on to thank his “village” of supporters before telling fans to celebrate with a glass of whiskey.

“Man, y’all don’t know how happy that makes me. Thank you so much, I love you guys. Country radio, everybody on my team,” Ray continued. “It takes a village and I’ve got a hell of a village, so thank y’all so much. I just want to send y’all a quick message of gratitude, and saying I love you guys and hope you are celebrating big wherever you’re at being safe in the snow if it’s snowing where you’re at. Pour a little whiskey and know that this is your No. 1 too, thank you guys so much.”

“Let’s go, two week No. 1, ayeee,” Ray shouted as the clip ended.

On Sunday (Jan. 9), when the track took the top spot for the first time, the country singer and Florida native took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message with fans and thank everyone who helped his single climb to the No. 1 spot.

“WHISKEY AND RAIN IS THE NUMBER ONE SONG IN COUNTRY MUSIC!!!! Y’all I gotta be real. It’s been an emotional one today,” Ray captioned the clip. “Back when we were recording this song I would think about all the things I always loved about @garyallanmusic and the way his music spoke to me and my life growing up in Eustis. I hope this song has been there for you on lonely nights when you’ve needed it, just like Gary always has been for me. One of my favorites of his goes, “life ain’t always beautiful… but it’s a beautiful ride.” Thank y’all for this beautiful ride!!! Thank y’all for loving this song!!! We ain’t slowing down!!! 🥃🌧 #whiskeyandrain

In the clip, Ray shared how the song going No. 1 is very special before thanking all who supported the song.

“We did it man. Woke up this morning, and ‘Whiskey and Rain’ is officially No. 1 at country radio right now,” Ray said as tears streamed down his cheek. “This one was really … I just wanted to get out here and thank y’all. My team, radio. This one’s special. I love you guys. I’m gonna collect myself, and we’ll do something. We’ll do a live, we’ll do a video, something. I just wanted to get out here and say thank y’all so much, man. What a way to start the year. I love you guys. Thank you.”

Co-written by Josh Thompson and Jesse Frasure, “Whiskey and Rain” is the first single from Ray’s third studio album, Higher Education, which was produced by Ross Copperman. The track marks Ray’s fourth No. 1 hit.
