Metallica is one of the most streamed rock band this year with over a billion streams on Spotify.

The band’s song have been streamed over 1.1 billion times in 2020 on Spotify alone, which totals 99.3 million listening hours by 53.3 million listeners in 92 countries.

“We thought last year’s number were…” the band began to say in an Instagram caption alongside a photo of their year-end Spotify numbers. “you guys have outdone yourselves! 99.3M hours?! That’s like if someone started listening on October 27, 9318 B.C. and never stopped. Can anyone guess what this year’s most played song was, clocking in at 128.6M streams??”

Although, this year’s numbers aren’t much larger than last, it still is a growth. In 2019, Metallica garnered 1 billion streams with 89.9 million listening hours from 45.9 million listeners in 79 countries.

The group continued: “You remain the most dedicated fans in the world – thank you for spending so much of your year with us!”
