Marty Stuart is mourning the loss of his beloved sister, Jennifer Stuart.
The GRAMMY-winning star took to social media to bid an emotional farewell to his sister on Sunday, September 17, just hours after her passing.
“It is with great sadness to say that my sister Jennifer passed away this morning. ‘Sis’ had so many friends who loved her from all over the country. She never met a stranger,” he wrote.
“Our family welcomes your love and prayers at this time,” Stuart added.
The “Little Things” singer closed his post by encouraging his followers to “do something nice for someone today” in honor of his late sister.
Fans rallied around the Grand Ole Opry member, sharing their condolences and well wishes in the comments section of his post.
“I’m so very sorry…sending deepest condolences and prayers for comfort. Always keep her memory alive, in the stories you tell,” wrote one Facebook user, while another shared, “So incredibly sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and your entire family during this extremely difficult time.”

Several of his fellow country stars also took to the comments of the post to share their condolences with the Mississippi native, including Brandy Clark, Mandy Barnett, Mark Wills, Jake Owen, Margo Price and more.

She Remained Mostly Out Of The Spotlight
Jennifer remained mostly out of the spotlight but often accompanied Marty Stuart at various award shows and performances. Her cause of death has not been revealed.
Marty Stuart is next scheduled to perform on Friday, September 22 in Marion, Illinois. It is unclear if any of his upcoming performances will be impacted.
Last year, Marty Stuart celebrated his 30th anniversary as a Grand Ole Opry member with a performance on the iconic stage. That appearance also marked Stuart’s 50th anniversary in Nashville.
“The Opry is a way of life,” Marty Stuart previously said. “It’s an institution that gets passed on every weekend. If you’re going to be a country performer, the Opry is the place to be.”
While the genre has seen many changes in recent years, one thing Stuart admires about the Opry is that it remains constant.
“The thing that has absolutely not changed is the Grand Ole Opry,” he pointed out. “The Mother Church of Country Music has remained and it all revolves around it.”
