Machine Gun Kelly has been crowned Favorite Rock Artist at the 2021 American Music Awards.

The “Bloody Valentine” singer was on hand to accept the Favorite Rock Artist trophy.

While the winner of this category was originally not going to make the broadcast, the Ohio native said his fans made it clear that they wanted to see the award announced on air during his acceptance speech.

“Hilarious… Before I accept this award, I wanted to say that [this award] wasn’t going to be televised, but my fans spoke very loudly,” the singer said. “So, I want to give them their credit.”

“I want to accept this for all the aspiring musicians. The ones who desire to play an instrument, wants to rap, wants to sing, not just the rock artists, but all the artists who are rock stars, if you know what I mean.”

“Lastly, I just want to say this, I read a headline that said the age of the rock star is dead, but looks pretty alive to me,” he concluded.

Also nominated in the category were Foo Fighters, All Time Low, AJR and Glass Animals.

While his girlfriend actress Megan Fox was out filming a new movie, Machine Gun Kelly walked the red carpet in style alongside his 12-year-old daughter, Casie Colson Baker.
