Luke Combs is teasing new music! On Sunday afternoon (Jan. 14), the 33-year-old country superstar took to social media to offer a sneak peek at an unreleased new song, which draws inspiration from his role as a father to his two sons: Tex Lawrence Combs, born in June 2022, and Beau Lee Combs, who joined the family in August 2023.
The Hitmaker Says He Has A “Bunch” Of “Dad Songs” Coming
Combs shared a clip of him strumming an acoustic guitar while singing the lyrics to the tune that finds the North Carolina native crooning about the relationship he shares with his two sons and the desire to be a positive role model for them.
“What’s up guys? Luke here, on Dad duty again, back from my hunting trip. Beau’s over there doing tummy time, expressing himself. Tex is taking a nap, got the baby monitor over here, and Nicole’s on the treadmill. So, y’all said you like dad songs. I got a whole bunch of them lined up,” Combs said before performing the unreleased song he co-wrote with Josh Phillips, titled “The Man He Sees In Me.”

“The Man He Sees In Me”
“He’s Spider-Man in Walmart boots and a camouflage hat/ with a baby blue Zebco that gets hung up every cast/ he thinks he’s learning fishing, from the man that taught Bill Dance/ and I think as I untangle it and put it in his hands/ I hope he never finds out that I didn’t hang the moon/ and I’ve never scared a monster out the closet in his room/ someday between him leaving home and driving on my knee/ maybe I’ll finally be/ the man he sees in me,” Combs sings in the performance clip.
As he goes into the second verse and chorus, Luke Combs sings about continuing to be a good role model in his sons lives, as well as hopes to leave a lasting, positive impression on the next generation as his sons grow up and become fathers themselves.
“He waves that blanket like the checkered flag pulling off of the interstate/ with a happy meal cup held high like I won a big race/ when we get home, his mind is blown when I untie his shoes/ he smiles and says ‘daddy there ain’t nothing you can’t do’/ I hope you never he never finds out that I didn’t hang the moon/ and I’ve never scared a monster out the closet in his room/ someday between him leaving home and driving on my knee/ maybe I’ll finally be/ the man he sees in me/ I know he’s gonna find out that I didn’t hang the moon/ there never was a monster in the closet of his room/ someday when he’s driving home with his son on his knee/ I hope he’s trying to be/ the man he sees in me/ the man he’s sees in me.”
“Plant The Seed”
On the final day of 2023 (Dec. 31), the chart-topping singer/songwriter took to social media to share another “dad song,” which was co-written by Wyatt McCubbin alongside Rob Snyder and Jeff Hyde. “Last night it was in my head and I couldn’t sleep, so I got up and messed around with it for a few hours. Been singing it to myself all morning and as I watched the boys while Nicole got a shower in, I recorded this,” Combs captioned the clip.
“He said don’t you blink/ So get up cause the next thing/ You know you turn around and wonder where your whole life’s gone/ Remember it’s about the journey/ Don’t fill your days with worry/ Sure them youngin’s drive you crazy/ But you’ll miss ‘em when they’re grown,” Combs sings on the opening verse of the tune. Luke Combs then made his way to the chorus, “Time ain’t always your friend/ It starts slow and gets faster towards the end/ So fill up your heart with love/ Pass it on before you go/ And thank the man upstairs that you were there to plant the seed and watch it grow.”
He concluded the post by apologizing to fans for sharing so many “dad songs” that he’s been working on, while also noting that he is just writing about “where I’m at these days.”
“I couldn’t be happier about it. A lot more songs to come soon,” he promised.
He Has Previously Released Dad Songs Such “Take You With Me”
These aren’t the first songs that Combs has written about fatherhood. In fact, he released a tune called “Take You With Me” on his latest album, Gettin’ Old, which is a heartfelt ode to his first son, Tex. The sentimental track was co-written by Combs and his frequent collaborators James McNair and Rob Williford. “Take You With Me” finds the proud father crooning over his son and singing about cherishing the time he gets to spend with Tex.
“Got a youngin’ of my own / he’s too young to understand it / when he gets a little older / watching the stage where I’m standin’ / he’ll know it’s about him / when he hears me sing I’ll take you with me / if it was up to me, we’d do everything together / and when they’re young like that / those days they don’t last forever / so every chance I get you best believe I’ll take you with me,” Combs sings.
