Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie are returning as judges on Season 20 of American Idol.
The popular singing competition show and its judges revealed the exciting news on Wednesday (Oct. 6) via social media.
“Idol fans, filming is underway in Austin, TX!” Bryan revealed in an Instagram post. “We can’t wait to put together this historic 20th season of the show and our 5th season as judges. Stay tuned for more opportunities to audition later this month and follow @AmericanIdol for all the details.”
The judges also revealed that the show has begun filming the upcoming season and are currently taping in Austin, Texas.
Via social media, Richie added, “Did y’all miss us?! So excited to kick off a new season of @americanidol with this crew! ✨🙌🏽 Filming has kicked off in Austin TX! Can’t wait to see what y’all bring this year. 😉”
Perry hasn’t yet commented on her return, however, the other judges confirmed her return.
In addition to Bryan, Perry and Richie, Ryan Seacrest will also return as the show’s host.

Singers and Idol hopefuls who wish to audition still have the chance to, as this season’s remote virtual auditions dubbed “Idol Across America” continue nationwide with open calls on Oct. 11, 26 and 28. Season 20 of American Idol hasn’t yet announced a premiere date, however, the show is returning to ABC Network.
