In a Q&A with Luke Bryan ahead of yesterday’s (April 19) American Idol show, Bryan congratulated country star Gabby Barrett for having the No. 1 song in the country with her debut single “I Hope.”

Bryan was asked during the Q&A, A fan named Amber Jennings asked “What do you enjoy most about American Idol?” In which he quickly responded “what I enjoy most about American Idol is when I think about the opportunity to make dreams come true.”

“You look at Gabby Barrett, right now Gabby Barrett has the No. 1 song in the country and just a few years ago, she was in the Idol mix and um pretty crazy stuff. Congratulations Gabby!” Bryan continued to gush. You can watch the full live Q&A with fans below:

In a video shared by Idol, Gabby Barrett shared a message to fans inviting them to audition for the next season of the show saying “I encourage you guys to try out for next season because you never know… it could change your life,” as her now husband Cade Foehner joined her in the video clip. “Two for one,” she joked as she cuddled close to her husband.

“I Hope” was co-written by Barrett alongside Jon Nite and Zachary Kale.

Barrett also recently released a remix of her single “I Hope” with Charlie Puth, which you can check out HERE.

Barrett finished third on season 16 of American Idol in 2018, but although she didn’t get crowned the Idol winner, She has certainly moved on to become a country star on her own with her anthemic debut single “I Hope.” Not only did Idol help launch her career but she also found the love of her life during her time on Idol, who she married in March of 2019.

She is set to release her debut album later this year via Warner Music Nashville, co-produced by Ross Copperman and Zachary Kale with songwriting credits for Barrett alongside Nashville mainstay songwriters Nicolle Galyon, Jimmy Robbins, Jon Nite and more.
