Lauren Alaina‘s brand-new EP entitled Unlocked dropped today (Friday, June 9), and one of the song’s featured on the Joey Moi-produced project is called “Thicc As Thieves,” a collaboration with country superstar Lainey Wilson.
Alaina recruited her friend and fellow country star Lainey Wilson for the track, turning the cut into a duet that is tailor-made for a fun night out on the town.
Flaunt Their Assets Within The Lyrics
Written with a handful of heavyweights, including Rocky Block, Luke Bryan, Dallas Davidson, Jacob Durrett, and Parker Welling, “Thicc As Thieves” features a boot-stomping rhythm, a catchy bass scale, and fresh guitar licks.
Lyrically, the spunky tune, which is bound to become a summer smash, shares a message to be proud of the curves you have, and to flaunt that pair of bell bottoms or blue jeans you’ve got on.
“We’re thicker than our accents, thicker than our hair / Thicker than the Georgia and Louisiana air / Thicker than molasses from the patches to the seams / Stealing hearts is in our jeans / Us southern girls / We’re thicc as thieves, We’re thicc as thieves / We’re thicc as thieves, We’re thicc as thieves,” Alaina and Wilson sing, inviting other Southern girls to sing-along to the body-positive anthem.

Both Alaina and Wilson share equal parts on the tune, with the Season 10 American Idol runner-up showcasing her voice on the first verse while Wilson echoes Alaina’s sentiments before featuring her Louisiana twang on the second. Toward the end of the tune, the ladies throw it back to 2011 by highlighting Luke Bryan’s country hit “Country Girl (Shake It For Me),” but putting a female spin on the recognizable track’s hook.

Toward the end of the collaboration, Alaina and Wilson insert a light-hearted booty joke, commenting on each other’s assets with Alaina blurting out the words: “Oh my gosh, Lainey / Look at your butt / How’d you get those bell bottoms yanked up?” And Wilson replying: “Oh my Lord, Lauren / Look at that juicy peach / Did you have to jump in them britches?”
Delivered The Live Debut At 2023 CMA Fest
Already a song that fans can look forward to hearing on big stages, Alaina and Wilson performed a live debut of “Thicc As Thieves” on Thursday (June 8) during Alaina’s set on the Riverfront Stage at the 2023 CMA Festival in Nashville, Tenn.
“‘Thicc As Thieves’…tonight. 11 CST. 🍑,” Alaina captioned on Instagram, alongside a cheeky photo of her and Wilson with their backsides turned toward the camera as they appear to be making their way onto the stage.
Appears On Lauren Alaina’s New EP, Unlocked
“Thicc As Thieves” is the final track that appears on Alaina’s 6-song Unlocked EP, which serves as her debut offering from her new label Big Loud. The song follows recent releases, “A Walk In The Bar” and “Hangovers.” Other tracks on the project include, “Don’t Judge A Woman,” “Smaller The Town,” and “Like Her.”
According to Taste of Country, Alaina has dedicated her new EP to the girls who grew up in her Rossville, Georgia hometown, saying, “I recorded these songs thinking about the girls back home. At some point or another, I’ve lived every one of these stories, and I think that might mean that they have, too. I hope they feel seen and heard whenever they turn this music on. Rossville girls: this is for you.”
“I’m so proud to have Unlocked out in the world today,” Alaina shares in a press release. “Five years ago, I don’t know that I would’ve cut any of these songs; it took slowing down, getting to know myself, digging deep in the writing room, and living some life to bring me to this place with this new music. I feel like I’ve fully embraced and stepped into who I am as a woman, an artist, a songwriter, and I’m so excited for my fans to get to step into this next chapter with me.”

Fans can hear all of Alaina’s new music from Unlocked when she takes the stage this summer during various performances.
Later this year, she will join Pentatonix as part of their North American tour.
