Kid Rock, Lee Brice, Michael Ray, Jameson Rodgers, and more traded their stage wear for golf attire on Monday (Aug. 29) in support of Folds Of Honor.
The artists took part in the 2nd annual Celebrity Golf Tournament at the prestigious Governors Club in Brentwood, Tennessee.
Brice, who has helped organize the event for the past two years, said he is always willing to step up in support of Folds of Honor.
“Just hearing their story and why they started this thing for the families of the veterans who don’t make it back. We can’t do enough for those people who have been sacrificing more than just even the ultimate sacrifice but all the time and the years they’ve sacrificed,” he shared.
The artists hit the course in 90-degree weather and Brice joked that it was poor planning on his part.
“I might plan the tournament in the wintertime next time,” he laughed, referring to the extreme heat.
Rodgers is a longtime supporter of Folds of Honor as well.
“They’re giving scholarships to family members of fallen soldiers, is there a cooler organization than that? Between this and the softball game…it’s a great organization and I am proud to be here,” he said while on the golf course.
Other artists who took part in the tournament are Jelly Roll, Jordan Rowe, Tyler Braden, Walker Montgomery, Hannah Ellis, and Nick Wayne.
In addition to musical artists, the event also featured celebrity players such as Cortland Finnegan, Rex Ryan, Ken Duke, Miranda Lambert’s husband Brendan McLoughlin, Shawn Booth, and Ryan Smyth.
The event also featured a dinner, a concert by Edwin McCain, and a live/silent auction.
In total, the 2nd Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament raised over $324,000 for Folds Of Honor Tennessee, whose mission is to provide opportunity to the families of our nation’s injured and fallen veterans in the form of scholarships.
“What a blessing! The energy in the air was electric on Monday. Thank you to all the sponsors, board members, celebrities, players, and volunteers who helped the Tennessee Chapter of Folds of Honor raise nearly 65 scholarships for our military families. Our ‘squadron’ is unmatched!” states Jenner Kreifels, the Regional Development Officer for Folds of Honor Tennessee.
Earlier this week, Folds of Honor announced the distribution of nearly 9,000 academic scholarships worth approximately $40 million for 2022-23. Since its inception in 2007, Folds has awarded nearly 44,000 scholarships valued at nearly $200 million.
“From where we started, to where we are today is something I never could have imagined,” said Lt Col Dan Rooney, founder and CEO of Folds of Honor. “This foundation started above our garage in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 15 years ago, and has positively impacted the lives of nearly 44,000 military dependents who deserve and need our help. We witness God’s hand on this ministry and are humbled by the support we receive. I’m so grateful to those who contribute and spread the message of our mission.”
