Lauren Alaina and her husband, Cam Arnold, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Beni Doll Arnold, in the summer of 2025. Though the country superstar has already returned to the stage, she’s still soaking in every moment she gets with her baby as a brand-new mom.

In fact, Alaina admits that motherhood has completely shifted her priorities. So much so that she now considers it her main role, with music feeling like a “bonus.”

“If I had known the way I would feel about being a mother, I would have had a baby sooner. I love her so much,” Alaina shared during an interview with Pure Country.

The 31-year-old singer/songwriter, then, went on to reflect on how becoming a mother has changed her perspective, especially when it comes to conversations surrounding women in country music and family planning. Pointing to Kelsea Ballerini’s reflective track “I Sit In Parks” from her Mount Pleasant EP, Alaina explained how the song has taken on new meaning for her. The track explores the feeling of possibly missing the window to have children while focusing on a demanding music career—a topic that’s resonating with many women in the industry.

“There are a lot of women in country music right now actually talking about how, like Kelsea, just put that song out about how she feels like maybe she missed the boat on being a mother,” Alaina noted, acknowledging how common the conversation has become.

She revealed that she reached out to Ballerini after hearing the song, offering words of encouragement and sound advice. “First of all, I texted her and said, ‘You’ve not missed the boat. You can do that still. Whatever you want. All of us women can do whatever we want,” Alaina said, before explaining how the song caused her to reflect on her own life.

“I did say to my husband, like, ‘Man, life is all about your perspective. And I have something that [Kelsea] wants, and she has things that I want,’” she continued. “That song made me look at my daughter, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’ve done it.’ I’m doing both, and she can too. And we all can. I’m just so grateful.”

Since welcoming Beni into the world, Alaina has been open about the realities of balancing motherhood and a touring career. She’s brought her daughter out on the road with her, frequently sharing behind-the-scenes moments on social media. Often by her side are her mother, Kristy Suddeth, and Arnold, who has jumped in wherever needed, even hopping on the tour bus to help.

Reflecting on juggling it all, Alaina admitted, “You can do both. But, it is hard.”

She didn’t shy away from the less glamorous parts of the experience either, sharing that pumping has become part of her everyday routine. “I’m pumping on planes. I’m pumping,” she laughed.

Alaina also shared that she breastfeeds in public to keep up her supply, even during sporting events.

“My husband has a pump bag at the Vandy game,” she recalled. “We went to see Vandy in Auburn, and I pumped in the bathroom because I’m a mom and I’m breastfeeding. I have to maintain my supply for her.”

Through it all, Alaina credits her husband for being a steady support system.

“He helps so that I can do what I love,” she said, recalling a moment when Arnold offered to step in fully if needed. “He said, ‘I will go home and take care of the baby if that’s what you need.’ We ended up getting a sitter, and she was fine. But I have the best husband.”
