Larry Fleet has released his brand-new song entitled “Young Buck” and it’s the perfect anthem for anyone who loves some sound advice.

Out today (Friday, May 5) via Big Loud Records, “Young Buck” find’s Fleet showcasing the unique bond between a father and a son as they venture off together on memorable hunting trips.

The Tennessee Troubadour narrates the song through the child’s lens and first paints a picture of the family members dressed in camo gear during their first time together in the deer stand. The dad offers his eager child some guidance after the boy shares his desire of being “the first kid in the third grade / To tag one on his first day.”

“He said son won’t ya slow it on down / Ya might not see it right now / But bein’ out here ain’t all about the years’ worth of deer that you hung up / The seasons get to goin’ too fast / So try to be where your boots are at / Just take it from me, you think you are, but you ain’t always gonna be / This young buck,” Fleet showcases his gritty vocals over swampy guitar licks, bass, sawing fiddles, organ, steel, and a southern rock rhythm.

As the tune progresses, the father ends up passing down years worth of wisdom to his son while on frequent deer stand outings. But the overall message he provides his young buck is to enjoy every moment and take his time because there’s no rush in growing up too fast.

Fleet recently opened up about his connection to the track in a press release.

“I’ve been escaping into the great outdoors since I was waist-high, going out in the woods and learning what this life is about from my dad and my granddad,” Fleet says of the tune.

“They taught me about the importance of family, good friends, about how to appreciate quality time spent with the people you love, finding gratitude for the little things. Now that I’ve got my own babies growing up faster than weeds, I can see the whole picture of what they were instilling in me,” the loving husband and father of two continued. “When I heard the demo for ‘Young Buck,’ I felt so connected to the story – it was mine to tell long before we ever got in the studio to cut it.”

Before releasing “Young Buck,” Fleet teased the track on Instagram, writing, “Everybody remembers their first time… #YoungBuck out next Friday. Hit that pre-save button up top 🦌.”

He also shared the cover art for the single, which features a buck and its fawn side by side amid a deer stand with the title of the track written above the photo.

“Young Buck,” produced by Joey Moi and written by Andy Albert, John Byron, Devin Dawson, and Jacob Durrett, follows Larry Fleet’s two-pack release of “Daddy Don’t Drink” and “Try Texas.”
