Lainey Wilson continues her record-breaking streak at US Country Radio as she makes history once again!
First Female To Ever Secure Four No. 1 hits On Country Radio Within A Single Calendar Year
After earning her sixth No. 1 hit alongside Jelly Roll with “Save Me,” the reigning CMA Entertainer Of The Year made history by becoming the first female artist ever to secure four No. 1 hits on US Country Radio (Mediabase) within a single calendar year (2023).
This milestone, reported by U.S. Radio Updater via Chris Huff on X, previously known as Twitter, includes her chart-topping Bell Bottom Country tracks, “Heart Like A Truck” and “Watermelon Moonshine” as well as her collaborations with HARDY and Jelly Roll, “Wait In The Truck” and “Save Me,” respectively.
In addition to becoming the first female artist to secure four No. 1 hits at US Country Radio (Mediabase) in a single calendar year, Wilson also holds the record of earning the most No. 1 hits by a solo female country artist this decade with six chart-topping hits, including “Things A Man Oughta Know,” “Never Say Never,” “Wait In The Truck,” “Heart Like A Truck,” “Watermelon Moonshine,” and “Save Me.”
Only seven other female artists have scored multiple No. 1 hits on the Mediabase charts this decade, including Carly Pearce, Gabby Barrett, Gwen Stefani, Ingrid Andress, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris and Miranda Lambert.
Earned Most No. 1s At Country Radio This Year
Upon earning his sixth chart-topping hit, Lainey Wilson (6) has now surpassed Jelly Roll (4), Luke Combs (4) and Morgan Wallen (4) as the artist that has earned the most No. 1 hits at US Country Radio this year.
Surpasses Record Held By Taylor Swift And Wynonna Judd
She also made history on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, breaking the record for “the shortest gap between No. 1 songs for a female artist in Billboard Country Airplay history with six weeks, surpassing Taylor Swift and Wynonna’s record of 11 weeks. She also extends her lead as the female artist with most No. 1s on the chart this decade (4),” according to U.S. Radio Updater.
Additionally, the X user also reported that Lainey Wilson is also the only female artist this year to earn multiple No. 1s on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, marking the first woman to achieve this feat since Gwen Stefani in 2020.
GRAMMY Nominations, Five Big Wins at 2023 CMA Awards
The news comes after Wilson earned two GRAMMY nominations, including Best Country Album for Bell Bottom Country and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Save Me.” She also recently brought home five trophies at the 2023 CMA Awards, including the coveted Entertainer Of The Year, Album Of The Year (Bell Bottom Country), Female Vocalist Of The Year, Musical Event Of The Year (“Wait In The Truck” with HARDY) and Music Video Of The Year (“Wait In The Truck” with HARDY).
In addition to winning five awards at the 57th Annual CMA Awards, Lainey Wilson also performed her new single “Wildflowers And Wild Horses,” which impacted Country radio on November 13.
Country’s Cool Again Tour
Additionally, Wilson is gearing up to embark on her first-ever headlining Amphitheater tour, dubbed the Country’s Cool Again Tour, launching in May of 2024. The 35+ date trek, which marks her biggest tour yet, kicks off on May 31 in Nashville, TN, and includes a stop in New York City at the iconic Radio City Music Hall.
“It’s a big jump from where we were top of this year playing clubs,” Wilson told the NY Post of the massive outing. “It’s really crazy to kind of sit back and think about the growth of what has happened.”
The Country’s Cool Again Tour will feature support from special guests Jackson Dean, Ian Munsick and Zach Top on select dates.
