Koe Wetzel is embracing the inevitability of change and forward motion in his brand-new, catchy single, “Time Goes On” out now via Columbia Records.
Written alongside frequent collaborators and friends Amy Allen, Gabe Simon, Carrie Karpinen, and Josh Serrato, this track finds the singer/songwriter looking back on the choices he made long before becoming one of country music’s most unfiltered and transparent artists.
“Time Goes On” finds Wetzel, 33, revisiting the past with a sense of honesty rather than regret. In the opening lyrics, he paints a vivid picture of small-town ambition, singing the lyrics, “We could barely pay for the weed and drink/ And we thought that we ran this town.“Koe Wetzel reflects on life, growth, and the passage of time in his new country-rock single “Time Goes On,” showcasing a more mature and introspective sound.
Those words set the tone for a song that acknowledges where Wetzel came from and how quickly life can change. But as the track unfolds, he weighs the many paths his life could have taken. “I could of done a lot of things right/ I could of done a lot of things wrong/ Could be pouring concrete on a west Texas street/ But I’m writing this song/ Crazy how the years go fast/ Crazy how the hours feel long/ Even through the mistakes and the can’t get through this/ Time goes on/ The time goes on,” the Texas native sings throughout the chorus, driving home his message.
Opening up about “Time Goes On” in a statement, Wetzel shared that the track was written to acknowledge “how quickly life moves, whether you embrace the changes that come with it or not.”
That theme runs throughout the tune, which blends the singer’s signature country-rock edge with a reflective, emotionally grounded tone that feels both familiar and newly matured. Built around driving electric guitars and punchy percussion, “Time Goes By” carries an anthemic energy while still leaving room for introspection.
Additionally, Wetzel’s strong baritone in the track finds him leading the song with both grit and heart, giving weight to every lyric as he balances confidence with vulnerability.
Produced by Gabe Simon and Carrie Karpinen, the track release arrives after weeks of social media teases that steadily built excitement among fans, marking another highly anticipated moment in Wetzel’s evolving musical journey.

Wetzel also paired the release with a visualizer directed by Michael Herrick. Shot at Bluejack National in Texas, the visual finds Wetzel dressed casually, standing alone in a dim and moody setting that mirrors the reflective nature of the song.
As the chorus hits, the lights kick on, subtly shifting the mood. The moment visually reinforces the song’s poignant message: looking back on what might have been while acknowledging the present direction he’s chosen. Instead of dwelling on the what-ifs, Wetzel is happily here, singing this song.
“Time Goes On” serves as the follow-up to Wetzel’s previous releases, “Surrounded” and “Werewolf,” tracks that help take him into the next phase of his career. The new single also follows the release of Wetzel’s 2024 studio album, 9 Lives, which included his highly successful debut country radio single, “High Road,” featuring Jessie Murph.
