Kelsea Ballerini and Halsey joined forces for an impressive performance of their collaborative single “The Other Girl” during the 2020 CMT Music Awards on Wednesday (Oct. 21).

The superstar pair debuted the infectious track on CMT Crossroads earlier this year in March. In fact their performance of “Graveyard” from their Crossroads performance is nominated for CMT Performance Of The Year.

“What’s really special about this performance is Ashley and I got together a couple months ago and we were trying to figure out, how can we give this song a visual, like how can we bring this to life in some way,” Ballerini said ahead of the performance. “So yeah, we had this idea to kind of bring almost like Coyote Ugly into modern day 2020 vibe, so I’m really excited. It’s our first big performance of the song that we’ve done of the song ever, so obviously we had to make it major. We’re kind of doing a Coyote Ugly, Britney Crossroads, southern-grunge hot performance and I’m really excited about it. I think the whole performance is very empowered, we’re both trying to really show off our confidence as artists and as women and I’m excited to really try to exude that tonight.”

“The Other Girl” was co-written by Ballerini alongside Shane McAnally and Ross Copperman and appears on Ballerini’s brand new album, kelsea.

The 2020 CMT Music Awards aired Wednesday night (Oct. 21) on CMT and featured performances from Ashley McBryde, Dan + Shay, Gabby Barrett, Jimmie Allen, Noah Cyrus, Kane Brown, Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Brooks & Dunn, Maren Morris, Morgan Wallen, Sam Hunt and Shania Twain as well as debut performances by Caylee Hammack, HARDY, Ingrid Andress, Mickey Guyton, Riley Green and Travis Denning.

The show was co-hosted by Kane Brown alongside Ashley McBryde and Sarah Hyland.

The Awards were produced by CMT’s Margaret Comeaux, Switched On Entertainment’s John Hamlin and Amy Lin Johnson; the Executives in Charge of Production are Jackie Barba and Heather D. Graffagnino.
