Team Blake’s Savion Wright, also known as “NOIVAS,” owned The Voice stage as he showcased his diverse vocal range in a cover of Chris Stapleton’s “Cold.”

The hopeful singer/songwriter delivered nothing but undeniable talent as he poured out a heartbreaking rendition of the song that was co-written by Chris Stapleton with Dave Cobb, Derek Mixon and J.T. Cure.

Standing in the midst of the smoke-filled stage, NOVIAS strummed his guitar while his Texas-born vocals were backed by a string orchestra and an electric guitar that elevated the soulful country  sound.

“Oh, why you got to be so cold? / Why you got to go and cut me like a knife / And put our love on ice? / Oh, girl, you know you left this hole / Right here in the middle of my soul / Oh, why you got to be so cold,” he sings in the redemptive chorus.

The excited audience’s cheers of excitement were followed by resounding praise from coach Kelly Clarkson as well as his coach, Blake Shelton.

“I love that song, what a great song selection that was,” Clarkson gushed. “Like even for your voice, cause your voice is suited for that style as well. It’s soulful. It’s got a little country in there. A little rock and roll. I love all of that. That was a really smart choice for you to do right now.”

Shelton, who gave his team member a standing ovation continued, “That’s funny that you say that cause I was talking to Novias just a couple days ago and I said, ‘man, I think people actually kind of think of you as country anyway, you know what I’m saying?’ I mean, obviously he comes out here looking like a big ol’ Texas guy anyway, but I just think your personality and the way you make people feel is country.”

“So you doing a Chris Stapleton song, I mean, of course you sound natural doing it,” he added. “And by the way, you killed it dude. Congratulations.”

NOVIAS’ most recent performance took place during part one of the show’s season finale on Monday, May 22 and follows his delivery of Adele’s 2014 hit “Skyfall” that landed him a spot in the Top 5.

Throughout NOVIAS’ time on The Voice, he has performed covers of Sam Cooke’s “A Change is Gonna Come” (Blind Audition), John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy” (Battles), Screamin’ Jay Hawkin’s “I Put A Spell On You” (Knockouts), Queen’s “Come Together” (Playoffs), Adele’s “Skyfall” (Top 8) and more.

Monday evening’s show served as the first of a two night season finale of NBC’s The Voice, where the Top 5 finalists faced off for America’s vote.

The Voice returns on Tuesday (May 23) at 8/7c with a star-studded two-hour season finale that will feature special performances from Maroon 5, Toosi, CeeLo Green, as well as Diplo featuring Lily Rose, and more.

In addition, Blake Shelton will join forces with NOIVAS and Grace West, while Kelly Clarkson will take to The Voice stage with D. Smooth. Niall Horan will perform alongside Gina Miles and Chance The Rapper will harmonize with the trio, Sorelle.
