Justin Bieber kicked off the 2020 American Music Awards with an emotion-filled performance of his latest singles “Lonely” and “Holy” on Sunday (Nov. 22).

Joined by Benny Blanco for “Lonely,” the superstar started the emotional performance similar to the music video for “Lonely” before exploding into his infectious hit “Holy,” which originally features Chance The Rapper.

The singer also performed “Monster” with Shawn Mendes during the awards show.

Bieber was up for 4 nominations including Artist Of The Year, Collaboration of the Year, Favorite Male Artist (Pop/Rock) and Favorite Song (Country).

The 2020 American Music Awards also featured performances from Bad Bunny, Jhay Cortez, BTS, Dua Lipa, Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, Shawn Mendes, Bebe Rexha feat. Doja Cat, Bell Biv DeVoe, Jennifer Lopez with Maluma, The Weeknd, Kenny G, Machine Gun Kelly, Lewis Capaldi, Dan + Shay and Billie Eilish.

The awards was produced by dick clark productions. Amy Thurlow, Barry Adelman, Mark Bracco and Linda Gierahn are executive producers. Larry Klein is producer. The “2020 American Music Awards” is sponsored by Cheetos, T-Mobile and Xfinity.

Hosted by Taraji P. Henson, The AMAs aired on Wednesday, November 22 (live 8:00-11:00 PM ET) on ABC.
