Chris Stapleton performed his chart-topping hit during his The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon appearance on Tuesday (Oct. 5) evening.

The singer alongside his wife Morgane, joined by Fallon on guitar, performed the fan-favorite single “You Should Probably Leave.”

The Tonight Show host filled in for guitarist Dave Cobb, who was sick with an earache and couldn’t travel.

“An interesting kind of performance tonight, because we have the great… Chris Stapleton is here to do his song ‘You Should Probably Leave,’ off his album Starting Over,” Fallon began to explain. “And I got a text last night from Chris saying that his guitarist, Dave Cobb, has an earache, so he could not travel. He couldn’t fly on a plane, he’s fine but couldn’t fly.”

“So he said I need a guitarist, so I said to Chris say no more,” he continued, as he reached for a black electric guitar beside him. “This is untouched, this is untouched. This is untuned, but we actually got on the phone, and we FaceTimed last night, and you tried to teach me the lick and the chords of the song. I’m going to try my best.”

“So, here’s me and Chris Stapleton doing ‘We Should Probably Leave,’ I appreciate this,” Fallon said as he joined the Kentucky native on stage.

Watch their performance below.

Co-written by Stapleton alongside Ashley Gorley and Chris DuBois, “You Should Probably Leave” is the second single from the country hitmaker’s fourth studio album, Starting Over

Additionally, Stapleton leads nominees at the 55th Annual CMA Awards with five nods, including Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year (Starting Over), Single of the Year (“Starting Over”) and Song of the Year (“Starting Over”), while also earning additional producer credits in both the Album of the Year and Single of the Year categories.

The singer is also currently in the midst of his All-American Road Show tour, which runs through June 2022.
