Jake Owen revealed that he is 316 days sober.
On Friday morning (July 29), the country superstar took to social media to share the news with fans.
“317 days ago I embarrassed myself after drinking too much alcohol one night. It wasn’t the first time either,” Owen began. “The next day I told myself, ‘never again.’ I am better than that, and the people I love the most deserve better. My family, my little girls, and my friends.”
Owen then went on to say that he hopes his post inspires others who are struggling with alcoholism or addiction.
“Just wanted to share my journey in case anyone woke up this morning and wants to make a change,” Owen continued. “None of us are perfect… I’m just trying to be the best version of myself these days. Have a great weekend. Happy Friday.”
Jake Owen Recently Shared An Uplifting Message With Fans
The post comes just one day after Owen shared an uplifting message with fans on social media.
“What I’m trying to tell you guys this morning is, is that somebody out there loves you. And I know you love someone, too. And I’m a little sentimental and emotional this morning,” Owen said.
He then explained that he is emotional as his daughter Pearl is preparing to leave for the summer and then head back to school after and that he just wanted to share a motivational message for fans.
“My little girl, Pearl, is about to leave for the summer (and) go back to school, and I just want you all to know how much I love you, how much I appreciate you. … Call someone today. Tell them you love them. Everybody deserves to hear from someone how much they’re loved and appreciated. And I appreciate you guys and I love you, and I’m very grateful for this life I get to live thanks to all of y’all. … Be kind to people, tell them you love them, and it’s summertime, baby, get out there in the sunshine.”
Jake Owen Recently Released A Music Video For His New Single “1×1”
Owen recently released his new single “1×1,” which celebrates the little things in life we often take for granted.
“There’s a five by seven of us up on the wall/ And that smile on your face, yeah, it says it all/ There’s a four by four sittin’ out in the drive/ Rides a whole lot better with your hand in mine/ And this house ain’t just some two by fours/ It’s you by me on the back porch/ Watchin’ the sun, woah oh/ Holdin’ on tight, takin’ these days and nights/ One by one,” Owen sings on the chorus.
The Florida native also shared a music video for the sentimental tune, which was directed by Ryan Smith and shot at Nashville Soundstage. The clip finds Owen strumming his acoustic guitar against a 270-degree, floor-to-ceiling video wall that showcased moments and memories that make life worth living.
“The second I heard ‘1×1’ it resonated with me, and I knew that I wanted to be a part of it,” Owen shared in a press release. “Working with Spidey to make this song soar on screen was a great experience, and having my family there made it even more meaningful. It’s sentimental and fun and tells a story; I’m excited to share it with you today.”
Owen’s soon-to-be wife, Erica, and two daughters Pearl, 9, and Paris, 3, also joined him on set for the filming.
The country hitmaker is currently in the midst of touring the festival circuit while also embarking on his 34-city Up There Down Here Tour.
