Joe Jonas & Sophie Turner

Joe Jonas and his wife Sophie Tuner have their friends to thank for attempting to set them up. While the matchmaking may not have worked as well as planned, the pair did eventually follow each other on social media. In doing so, Jonas took a chance and slid into Turner’s DMs.

How Did Joe Jonas Meet Sophie Turner? Joe Slid Into Sophie’s DMs

“We had a lot of mutual friends, and they’d been trying to introduce us for a long time,” Turner told PEOPLE before adding, “We were following each other on Instagram and he direct-messaged me one fine day, out of the blue.”

Turner is known for her acting roles in major movies and popular TV shows like Game of Thrones, which kickstarted her career in entertainment. As a result of her time on the HBO series, Turner received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2019.

Jonas’ career started a bit earlier in life. Most know him as the middle brother of the Jonas Brothers trio from New Jersey that consists of him, his brother Nick and their older brother Kevin. In 2005 the brothers signed with Columbia Records and released their first album, It’s About Time, in 2006.

Soon after, Joe and his brothers rose to fame with Disney, split in 2013 and got the band back together in 2019 after a six-year hiatus. During their time apart, Joe continued with his music career and formed the pop band DNCE. In this chapter of his life, he found great success after he and his bandmates released their song, “Cake by the Ocean.” In addition to touring with DNCE for several years, Joe also appeared as a coach on NBC’s The Voice in Australia.

Keep Their Personal Lives Private

While Jonas and Turner are more than used to being in the limelight, they have been known to keep their private lives relatively under wraps, especially with their relationship that began when that first connection was made on Instagram.

Jonas’ direct message led to him extending an invitation to Turner to join him out on the road while passing through the U.K. on tour. With a bit of persuasion from her friends, the actress agreed and the pair ended up growing very close after spending hours upon hours talking without the conversation fizzling out.

In 2016, rumors of their relationship began to spread like wildfire after they were spotted in public together for the first time. They were attending a pre-MTV Europe Music Awards Kings of Leon concert in Rotterdam, Netherlands when fans captured photos of the duo looking inseparable.

A Source Confirmed They Were Dating In 2016

At the end of the year, their relationship was confirmed by a source who told PEOPLE, “They’re dating exclusively. He was playing the field, but he really likes her and is willing to settle down for her.”

The couple then kicked off the new year with Jonas making his Instagram debut on Turner’s feed. In January 2017, Turner took to social media to post a photo of Jonas smoking a cigar on the back of a boat in what she called a “Miami daze.”

Later that month, Turner was asked about their relationship directly while at the Golden Globes. Her response did not specifically confirm the suspicious, but she did reveal that things seemed to be going well in her life, which many guessed to be a result of her time with Jonas.

“I’m not saying anything… I’m very happy,” she told Extra TV host Mario Lopez.

Sophie Revealed Her Relationship Is “Very Private” In 2017

Her response to this question shifted in July 2017 when she spoke to The Sunday Times and confessed, “I’m in a relationship, but it’s a very private relationship.”

Things seemed to be moving along well for Turner and Jonas because at the end of the love-filled summer, they adopted a husky puppy named Porky Basquiat. The actress introduced their new family member to the world in an Instagram post that read, “Meet the newest addition to the krew @porkybasquiat 🐶”

Just a few months later, they welcomed home Porky’s brother named Waldo Picasso.

Joe Jonas And Sophie Turner Got Engaged In October Of 2017

Nearly a year after their love story officially began, the couple announced their engagement. On October 15, 2017, they shared collaborative Instagram posts that showcased the ring on Turner’s finger

“She said yes,” Jonas captioned the image while Turner wrote, “I said yes.”

Their last-minute nuptials took place in 2019 with a ceremony at Chapel L’Amour in Las Vegas that fit their spontaneous, carefree personalities. To add to the excitement of the whole affair, the lovebirds used Ring Pop wedding rings.

Got Married In 2019 After The Billboard Music Awards

Despite the fact that the ceremony was held just hours after the Billboard Music Awards, several of their celebrity friends joined in the celebrations. The wedding was officiated by an Elvis impersonator, Diplo livestreamed the memorable moment on his Instagram live feed and country music duo Dan + Shay provided the musical entertainment.

“We had to get legally married in the states, so we thought it’d be really fun to get all of our friends, invite them out, and do an impromptu wedding. And we actually had some people that I didn’t really even know that well there,” Jonas previously told GQ.

Each of the Jonas brothers gathered for the intimate wedding. They later joined together again for a more sophisticated and planned-out ceremony in the south of France. During their second ceremony, Turner and Jonas exchanged vows again in front of more family and friends.

While several sources described the stunning layout of the parison wedding, the couple withheld most of the photos until their second wedding anniversary.

“The best two years of my life. Love you @sophiet,” Jonas wrote on Instagram in honor of their life as husband and wife. At the same time, Turner shared her own post that said, “2 years as your wife holy moly I love you bub.”

All Three Of The Jonas Brothers Are Now Married

Joe Jonas was not the only one to get married this year. In fact, by 2019, both of his brothers had also fully embraced married life with their wives, Danielle and Priyanka. They had also gotten their sibling band back together and commemorated their official return with the release of their song, “Sucker.”

The upbeat Jonas Brothers’ song was paired with an accompanying music video that starred each of their wives – Turner, Priyanka Chopra (Nick Jonas’ wife), and Danielle Jonas (Kevin Jonas’ wife).

Joe And Sophie Jonas Welcomed Their First Child In July of 2020

On July 22, 2020, the singer/songwriter and his beautiful wife grew their family by one more as they welcomed their baby girl, Willa.

Their official announcement of Willa’s birth came several days later when their reps told PEOPLE, “Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are delighted to announce the birth of their baby.”

Two years later, they announced that baby number two was on the way.

“It’s what life is about for me — raising the next generation. The greatest thing in life is seeing my daughter go from strength to strength. We’re so excited to be expanding the family. It’s the best blessing ever,” Turned revealed to Elle UK.

Welcome Second Daughter In July of 2022

Jonas’ fate as a girl dad continued in July of 2022 when Turner gave birth to another daughter, whose name has yet to be revealed.

“Joe and Sophie are happy to announce the arrival of their baby girl,” the reps told PEOPLE exclusively.

Neither of their kids were present during the recent Hollywood Walk Of Fame Ceremony that honored Jonas and his two brothers, but Turner happily stood by her husband’s side while wearing an all-red ensemble.

Jonas Brothers Got A Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

During the event, each of the Jonas’ had the chance to share a few words. When it was Joe’s turn to step up to the podium, he made sure to give a shoutout to his girls.

“Sophie, what up homie. You’re my partner in crime. You keep me motivated and inspired every day. I strive to be as cool as you,” he said. “You got any plans after this?”

“To my little ones at home, Daddy loves you to the moon and back,”  the “Toothbrush” singer continued.
