Dolly Parton shared in a recent health update that she’s been forced to abruptly cancel her upcoming Las Vegas concerts at Caesars Palace.

Dolly Parton Issues Major Health Update

The 80-year-old country icon took to social media on Monday (May 4) to share an update on her health and what’s ahead, including her Sin City shows, a Broadway musical, plus plans for a hotel and museum in Nashville, which she captioned, “Thank you for standing by me and showing me so much love and support over the past year. I’ve still got some healing to do, but I am on my way!”

“I am here to give you an update on a few things going on in my life,” Parton began in a lengthy video message on social media. “First, it’s concerning my health. And I have some good news and a little bad news. The good news is I’m responding really well to meds and treatments and I’m improving every day.”

Cancel Upcoming Las Vegas Concerts

Parton shared that she’s currently unable to perform due to medications that leave her feeling “swimmy headed” and not “up to stage performance level.” She apologized to fans while announcing the postponement of her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace, which had been scheduled for September 2026 after previously being moved from December 2025.

“Now the bad news is it’s going to take me a little while before I’m up to stage performance level because some of the meds and treatments make me a little bit swimmy headed, as my grandma used to say,” the “Jolene” singer continued, explaining, “And of course I can’t be dizzy carrying around banjos, guitars and such on five inch heels. And you know that I’m going to be wearing them. Not to mention all those heavy rhinestone outfits, the big hair, my big…personality. Lord, knows…that would make anybody swimmy headed.”

She then encouraged fans to think of her as an “old classic car” that just needs a little tune-up to be “restored” and “be better than ever.”

“When they raised the hood on this old antique, they realized that I need to rebuild my engine and that my transmission is slipping. My oil pan is leaking and my muffler’s busted and my shocks and pistons need to be replaced. And for sure, my spark plugs need to be changed because you know, as well as I know that I can’t lose my spark,” Parton joked. “I am truly sorry that I’m going to miss all of you that had tickets to see me in Las Vegas. Well, you get home to Vegas and you have a big time.”

“Rebuilding” And “Strengthening” Her Immune And Digestive System

Parton has been struggling with several health issues since last year, including kidney stones and an undisclosed infection, as well as emotional fatigue since the sudden passing of her husband Carl Dean. She continues to battle kidney stone issues amongst other immune and digestive system issues, according to her health update.

“I’ve told you before that I’ve always had problems with my kidney stones. Lord, they dig more stones out of me a year than the Rock Quarry in Rockwood, Tennessee,” she added with a laugh. “But seriously, my immune system and my digestive system got all out of whack over the past… three years. And they’re working real hard on rebuilding and strengthening those.”

Update On Future Plans, Promises She Is “Still Working”

However, despite dealing with the issues she assures fans that she is “doing really well” and confirmed that her doctors promised her that everything she is dealing with is treatable. Dolly Parton is still actively working on her other endeavors, including Broadway musical DOLLY: A True Original Musical, her Nashville hotel and museum and more.

“The truth is, I am still working. I still do videos, I still record, [and] I run up and down to Dollywood now and then. And I’m working hard on getting my museum and my hotel opened in Nashville later this year. And I am spending a lot of time writing and reworking on my Broadway musical. It’s called DOLLY, A True Original Musical. And that’s going to be opening later in New York, this fall or early winter. Oh, I know you’re thinking, Lord, sick or well, that girl’s always promoting something. Well, that’s true, but that’s how you get it done,” Parton said.

Thanks Fans For Their Support And Being “A Big Part Of My Healing” Journey

She went on to graciously thank her loyal fans for their endless support through all of her health issues and since the passing of her husband Carl Dean.

“Hopefully sometime you’ll come up to New York and maybe see my show and I’ll see you somewhere down the line. But I just want you to know also that a lot of you’ve been concerned about me… Lord, my house and my porch look like the botanical gardens with all the flowers and my den looked like the post office with all the cards and letters. So yes, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you. You have been a big part of my healing.” She concluded her video message, “I just want you to know I thank you for standing by me and that I will always love you. Thank you.”
