Country music legend and Grand Ole Opry member Jeannie Seely is on the road to recovery after a series of major health challenge in recent weeks.
Jeannie Seely Issues Health Following Two Emergency Surgeries
The beloved singer-songwriter and host of Sundays with Seely on SiriusXM’s Willie’s Roadhouse took to social media on Wednesday (May 7) to share a health update with fans.
The 84-year-old singer/songwriter revealed that she had underwent multiple back surgeries in March, followed by two emergency abdominal surgeries in April, which led to 11 days in the intensive care unit and a bout with pneumonia. She is now struggling through the recovery process from these surgeries and admitted that rehab is pretty tough.
“Hopefully I can count on that support as I struggle through this recovery process from multiple back surgeries in March, as well as two emergency abdominal surgeries in April, followed by eleven days in the intensive care unit and a bout with pneumonia,” Seely explained. “Rehab is pretty tough, but each day is looking brighter and last night, I saw a light at the end of the tunnel. And it was neon, so I knew it was mine! The unsinkable Seely is working her way back.”
Expressed Gratitude For Outpouring Love And Support
Seely also expressed gratitude for fans and the music industry for the love and support over the last few months.
“Over the past several weeks, I’ve received so many wonderful messages of love and concern about being missed on the Grand Ole Opry and on Sundays with Seely,” Seely shared in a heartfelt message via a press release. “Thank you for those, and I assure you that I miss you just as much!”
Once fully recovered, Seely said she has plans to continue performing regularly on the Grand Ole Opry stage in addition to recording her weekly show — Sundays with Seely — on SiriusXM’s Willie’s Roadhouse. Jeannie Seely also promises to release new music in the near future.
