Country music icon Toby Keith spread some holiday cheer this Christmas by sharing a heartwarming photo featuring his beloved family.
See A Heartwarming Photo Of Toby Keith And His Family On Christmas
The legendary country star took to social media on Monday (Dec. 25) to share a glimpse into his family’s festivities. He shared a photo of himself posed with his wife, Tricia, and their two daughters, Shelley Covel Rowland and Krystal Keith, as well as his son, Stelen Keith Covel, and their grandkids, creating a joyous picture-perfect portrait.
“Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from my family to yours,” Keith wrote alongside the family photo.
Singer Cherishes Family Time Amid Cancer Battle
The 62-year-old “Should’ve Been A Cowboy” singer also recently opened up about cherishing time with his family this holiday season more than ever amid his cancer battle.
“It’s special to me because two years ago when I was diagnosed, we just lost a guy,” Keith recalled. “There was a guy that said he’d been feeling weird, and we’re playing golf with him, and he went in, and they said, ‘You got two weeks to live,’ and he went away. The next month, I get diagnosed, and I’m just thinking about what just happened to that guy, that’s all on my mind.”
“And my son was getting married, and his wife didn’t have a father, and she had asked my son, Steven, if I’d walk her down the aisle. I said, ‘Sure,’” he continued. “And now I’m a month away from that, and I’m thinking, ‘I might not even make it that far.’ I didn’t know, you know? When you get diagnosed, you just freak. Here it is two years later, we’re headed for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Those things are more important than anything. I’m so blessed.”
Keith Recently Made A Triumphant Return To The Stage In Las Vegas
Toby Keith performed a three-night sold-out stint in Las Vegas at Dolby Live at Park MGM earlier this month. During his first show on December 10, the singer barreled through a 2-hour, 24-song performance including many of his hits like Should’ve Been A Cowboy,” “I Love This Bar,” “As Good As I Once Was,” “Beer For My Horses,” “How Do You Like Me Now?!” and more, as well as a tribute to the late Jimmy Buffett.
The trio of performances marked a taste of what’s to come from Toby Keith, as he teased his return to the road during an interview with Taste of Country Nights.
“It’s on the board,” Keith said of a full-scale tour. “They have got a great plan together, and we’ve built a new set, and we’re getting the trucks and buses fired up. Our plan is to go forward, don’t let this stuff define our future — let’s go.”
Positive Update On Toby Keith’s Cancer Battle
During a recent interview with Audacy’s Katie & Company, Toby Keith shared a positive update on his ongoing, two-year stomach cancer battle.
“I’m doing really good,” Keith told host, Katie Neal. “It’s been a tough two years, but I think I’m turning a corner… I don’t know if you’re ever done with it [cancer], but I’m trying to be.”
While Keith may be returning to the stage and soon to the touring circuit, it appears he is still battling cancer. He also previously shared that he is currently exploring new treatments in Florida during an interview with Bob Stoops on Sellout Crowd. “It’s a rollercoaster all the time with this stuff,” he said, adding that he is financially able to “get the best treatments I can get” and was preparing to travel to Florida to “see another guy down there that’s got some other kind of treatments. I’m trying ’em all, I’m throwing the kitchen sink at it.”
He further elaborated on his cancer battle while talking to Taste Of Country, where he admitted that he “ain’t afraid” of the disease anymore and that he won’t let it define who he is. “I finally got it in a spot where I’m really comfortable with it,” he told the outlet. “Everything’s trending really well right now, and I’m not gonna let this define the rest of my life. If I live to be 100, or I don’t, I’m going to go forward. I’m feeling good, and I’m off of chemo, and I’m rolling. We’re just going business as usual, going forward.”
