Female powerhouse singers Colbie Caillat and Sheryl Crow have joined forces for a powerful new collaboration that is a fresh, feel-good track called “I’ll Be Here,” out today (Friday, Sept. 8).
Reimagined Version Of Caillat’s “Never Gonna Let You Down”
Produced by Jamie Kenney and penned by Caillat, Brett James, Jason Reeves, and Kenny Edmond, “I’ll Be Here” will sound familiar to some folks as it is a rework of “Never Gonna Let You Down” from Caillat’s fifth studio album Gypsy Heart, released in 2014.
“I wrote ‘I’ll Be Here’ with Brett James at my house in California about 13 years ago,” Caillat explained of the tune. “We wanted to write an uplifting song for anyone to sing to whoever they love, including singing it to yourself because that’s important too. Over the years, we recorded many variations of it, but this one is the original and my favorite and how it was always meant to sound. My heart is so happy and in awe that my lovely friend Sheryl Crow is singing it with me. Her legendary voice and calm tone, so perfectly shares the message of this nurturing song with me. And Jamie Kenney’s tasteful production took it all the way home.”

Unlike the original, however, “I’ll Be Here” offers listeners a more stripped-down feel with its light acoustic guitar picking dancing beneath Caillat and Crow’s separate distinctive vocals. Caillat shines in the opening lines of the first verse, while Crow shows off her edgy vocals in the second verse. During the chorus, both artists pair their vocals together in stunning harmony, turning the take into an ear-grabbing sing-along built to bring joy everywhere with its positive message.
“I’m never gonna let you down, always gonna build you up / When you’re feelin’ lost, I will always find you, love / Never gonna walk away, always gonna have your back / And if nothin’ else, you can always count on that / When you need me, I will be here / I’ll be here, I’ll be here, I’ll be here / I’ll be here, I’ll be here, I’ll be here,” Caillat and Crow sing in harmony throughout the chorus of the song.

Along with the track, Caillat and Crow star together in the newly released accompanying music video directed by Tess Lafia.
The scenic visual opens with Caillat driving in the countryside as she sings her parts of the tune. The “Bubbly” songstress flies solo until the second verse, in which Crow is shown driving around in a blue-colored truck.
The two share vocals as the clip transitions into a split screen, allowing the simplicity and beauty of the outdoors to take over before the two find their destination, which brings them together at a table with friends – a real girl power moment.
Ahead of the release, Caillat teased the song on Instagram, writing, “Guys!! I have one more single coming out, and it’s with the lovely @sherylcrow called “I’ll Be Here”! 🧡🎶 It’s available for pre-save now through the link in my bio #ColbieCaillat #SherylCrow #IllBeHere #newmusic#countrymusic.”
She also included side-by-side images in her announcement. The first of the two images shows her seated inside a recording studio alongside Crow. The second snapshot, meanwhile, shows fans the cover art for the single, which finds the two artists sitting on a pair of outdoor lounge chairs while dressed in summery clothes and cowgirl boots.
“DREAM combo,” one person commented below the post, while another added, “Wow! This is epic!!! 👏👏👏🔥🔥Two voices that forever changed me.”
A third follower wrote, “What a great pairing. Can’t wait to hear the duet from two of my favorite female artists!”
