Carrie Underwood is a megastar, no doubt. Her powerhouse vocals have led her to win numerous awards, including eight Grammys. She has also scored over 28 No. 1 hits and released several albums that have been certified platinum or multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The country music sensation and wife to former NHL hockey star Mike Fisher, previously elevated her celebrity persona with the launch of CALIA by Carrie Underwood, a fitness and activewear brand. Among other endeavors, she became an author with the release of a book titled FIND YOUR PATH: Honor Your Body, Fuel Your Soul, and Get Strong with the Fit52 Life — a New York Times bestseller.
Underwood also became the first female country artist to debut a new exclusive year-round SiriusXM channel called CARRIE’S COUNTRY, which, according to SiriusXM, highlights “her friends, favorites, and influences — new and classic country, workout hits, gospel, and beyond.”
Carrie Underwood’s Net Worth Is Reportedly $140 Million
With so much success, it’s no question that Underwood is raking in the dough. In fact, Country Living reports that the 40-year-old singer has a net worth of $140 million. But, on top of what she makes through all of the previously mentioned highlights, Underwood has another giant role.
She is the face of the Sunday Night Football show opening.
For over a decade, Underwood has been hyping NFL fans before each kick-off with her powerful voice. That job was previously given to Faith Hill until Underwood stepped in 2013. Over the years, Underwood has belted out various songs, including “Oh Sunday Night” and “Game On.” This year, she is serving up the original, “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” — a reworked version of Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself For Loving You.”
Underwood debuted her return to the NFL season during the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants season opener on Sunday (Sept. 10). A video of her singing “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” also featured a new element, in which viewers saw her delivering an impressive drum solo on the same drum kit she used for her 2023 Denim & Rhinestones Tour.
Reportedly Earns $1 Million Per Week
Now that the new season is underway, some fans may be asking the question: What does Carrie Underwood make when she delivers the SNF anthem on game day each week?
Well, it turns out the “Give Her That” chart-topper is actually racking up a pretty hefty bill for the NFL to include her in their promotional spot for the sport. According to AllSportsFaq.com, Underwood is paid approximately $1 million each week. That means she makes roughly $18 million a season for her performances annually.
The amount may be jaw-dropping, especially, since Super Bowl Halftime performers have long been-known to deliver their 12-14-minute show for free. But Underwood’s inclusion is no easy feat. The professional superstar says a lot goes into planning each year, and since she’s reached her 11th consecutive year singing the iconic opener, she wanted to do everything bigger and better.
Rakes In Roughly $18 Million Per Season
“This is our 11th year, so I feel like the challenge at this point is just figuring out how to make everything look different, feel different, make the wardrobe look different,” she told Access Hollywood. “I feel like we’ve done every color, we’ve done shorts, we’ve done dresses and everything in between, so we were just kind of trying to figure out what we could do that would look and feel different and kind of went with this onesie, one leg asymmetrical thing, creation. It’s a lot of fun.”
Of this year’s song, Underwood shares, “There’s a lot of energy that is going into it, and hopefully everybody feels that. I think every year, we definitely try to raise the bar and be bigger and better than we were the year prior. I grew up watching Sunday night football, and I love football in general, so it’s so much fun to kind of play a small part in it and hopefully get everybody pumped up for the game.”
Underwood has shared that she loves singing the “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” anthem ahead of the game!
Enjoys Singing The Tune, Ponders Adding It To Her Set List
When asked on TODAY whether or not she enjoys singing the song, Underwood says, “I do. I love it so much. It’s so much fun, and it’s great when people are like, ‘Oh my gosh! You sing the football song. People have asked me if I would [sing it live]. I’m like, ‘No. We haven’t worked into the set, but maybe we should.”
Speaking of set, however, Underwood did bring the backdrop of her ongoing Las Vegas residency, Reflection, into the theme of this year’s NFL slot as folks are transported to Sin City’s Resorts World Theatre.
“Once again, the incredible Sunday Night Football team came up with a fresh, exciting visual concept that really gave us a chance to play,” Underwood previously shared in a statement. “I loved shooting the show open again this year at our home away from home, The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, and can’t wait for another season of football!”
Folks can catch Underwood on her ongoing REFLECTION residency, which runs through December.
