Carrie Underwood just surprised fans with all the details to her upcoming ninth studio album, Denim & Rhinestones.

The country superstar and Oklahoma native took to social media on Friday, April 8, to unveil the track list, album art and release date of her highly-anticipated new project.

In addition to sharing the details for her brand-new album, Underwood also released the title track, “Denim & Rhinestones.”

The song, which was co-written by Underwood alongside frequent collaborators Hillary Lindsey, Josh Kear and David Garcia, finds Underwood putting her powerhouse vocals on full display to an infectious ’80s melody.

“The song ‘Denim & Rhinestones’ is super fun, with a bit of a retro vibe – we just go together, like a sweet tea and a lemon, like denim and rhinestones,” Underwood explained. ”You have these things that are great on their own and then you put them together and they just fit. That’s how this album feels.”

Throughout the melodic track, Underwood, who often dons DanielXDiamond’s custom denim jackets with rhinestone fringe, compares a picture-perfect relationship to things that pair together flawlessly such as “Tennessee and a bottle of Jack,” and “Sweet Tea & A Lemon.”

Underwood even included a shoutout to country music icon, Dolly Parton, in the track’s opening verse: “Dolly and a tape deck on the way back to home sweet home.”

Listen to Underwood’s brand-new song “Denim & Rhinestones” below.

Arriving on June 10 via UMG Nashville, Denim & Rhinestones will feature 12-tracks, including the project’s lead single “Ghost Story,” as well as the just-released title track.

“We cover a lot of ground on this album. We have a lot of songs that have a bit of a ‘throwback’ feel, but they sound super fresh,” Underwood shared of the project in a press release. ”I grew up listening to so many different kinds of music and that is extremely evident in this body of work.  These are musical influences that are all in me and work their way out, and I just decided this time not to get in their way. I think this whole album ended up being a big reflection of me as a person and as an artist.”

Underwood added, “After spending over two years with My Gift and My Savior, which were such passion projects and so close to my heart, putting together REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency was really the catalyst for this album.  I was just ready to have fun and to write songs that make me happy to listen to and happy to sing.”

Underwood’s album release date is a pretty significant date for the “Ghost Story” singer as this year will mark her 17-year anniversary since her Grand Ole Opry debut, which took place on June 10, 2005, just two weeks after Underwood won American Idol.

Underwood is offering fans a variety of preorder options, including a signed CD box set, a vinyl box set, a standalone CD, purple vinyl, as well as a cassette or of course a digital download. Preorder is available now, HERE.

Denim & Rhinestones is the follow-up to 2018’s Cry Pretty. Since then, Underwood also released a Christmas album, My Gift, in 2020, and a faith-based Gospel album, My Savior, in 2021.
